I'm going away for a while, so I grabbed a Vita to keep me company.

I have most of the good Vita titles.

Any recommendations on good PSP games on the PSN? I'm interested in just about anything.

Just tried them out. Pretty awesome, thanks!
EDIT: They're not available on the VIta though... Sad

I also grabbed Persona 3 and Half Minute Hero. Enjoying both.

Anyone got any more...?

Sorry, I don't, but I'm surprised that you got the Vita. I thought that mobile platform fell flat on it's face.

I will be away from civilization for many months, and the Vita is perfect for my particular situation.

I must say, I'm surprised at the quality of the launch titles. This is truly a portable console.

When I went away for a few months (15 I think). The PSP was my constant source of entertainment. Does the Vita take old PSP games and moives?

The Vita hasn't exactly fell flat on its face, it just got off to a rather lethargic start. It is to early to say whether its a flop or not at the moment. Nintendo had the same problem with the 3DS, initial sales where dreadful and it appeared that Nintendos sales forecasts where totally over optimistic. People started to think it was going to be a disaster but by March this year it had turned around. While the hardware itself still hasn't made a profit if the game sales maintain their current momentum it wont be long before the 3DS is in the black.

The Vita needs to be on the shelf for at least 12 months before it can be called. The launch of Vita mirrors the launch of the PSP in some ways, that didn't seem to do well either. Yet the PSP was the only handheld that survived and it lasted 8 years, total sales estimates where around 70m units. In the first handheld war Nintendo curb stomped Sega with the Game Gear barely breaking 11m units.

The Vita cannot use UMDs, Sony had a service in Japan that allowed you to re buy PSP titles that you already owned for a discounted price via the PSN. They didn't bring that service to the US or Europe when the Vita was launched there however.

Losing the UMD passport is no big loss imo, having to spend $12 to re-buy games you already own isn't much of a privilege

Sony will always fail in the mobile game platform market. Nintendo owns that market.

Well Nintendo AND Apple and Android P Which is funny, the first angry birds have sold twice?! as many copies than Pokemon games on DS.

I think even Nintendo is going to run into big problems vs apple and google on the handheld market for gaming in the next few years.

Yes, I do, but it won't be joining me.

Downloaded some good ones. Persona 3 Portable alone will probably get many hours from me.
Too bad PS1 games aren't playable at launch.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Wipeout 2024, is one of the best wipeout games I've ever played.

other than that, te Sport games are top notch. Fifa in general is badass with the way it uses te back panel, it's genius, and not gimmicky.

if you like old school RPGS they are having a huge sale right now

• Class of Heroes -- now $14.99 (was $39.99)
• Crimson Gem Saga -- now $14.99 (was $29.99)
• Hexyz Force -- now $14.99 (was $29.99)
• Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble -- now $14.99 (was $39.99)
• Knights in the Nightmare -- now $14.99 (was $29.99)
• Riviera: The Promised Land -- now $9.99 (was $14.99)
• Shin Megami Tensei: Persona -- now $19.99 (was $39.99)
• Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin -- now $29.99 (was $39.99)
• Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable -- now $19.99 (was $39.99)
• Yggdra Union -- now $9.99 (was $14.99)

oh if you like rouge likes, ZHP, is amazing.

It sure is a failure or in the very least not a success. 3DS is a better handheld device for gaming and if you want a device that can do more go with smart phones or pads.

As a portable gaming platform a smart phone or tablet can't touch it, not even close, sure you may be able to do more with them but that's why you buy them, but to buy a tablet or a smart phone primarily for gaming is just ret**ded.

As for the 3DS being better that's subjective, I would go for a Vita as I was never sold on the whole stylus for gaming or the 3d angle.

OP Edit.

Any GTA tiles is a must tbh.

I thought the whole point of consoles was to buy them for the games, not the brand.

I fail to understand you point? I did not say go for the brand. I have played both DS lite and PSP and the DS was in my and most peoples opinions a better handheld device with a far better and more extensive library of quality games. 3DS I have not tried and the 3d is perhaps great or perhaps pointless? I enjoy 3d on my PC for games and entertainment but playing Mario in 3d might be, as I said, pointless.

Thing with Sony and Vita is that, you don't have to believe me, it is not a success and never has been and you wont see a lot of great third party titles (even less with the Vita than the first PSP.) I doubt it will last long and Sony is struggling which is another concern because it will affect their support and let's face it, the PS vita will require Sony to throw a lot of money at it to have it becoming a great gaming device.

In the meantime developers are moving towards apps and PC. I honestly think the PS VIta is a stupid device anyway, might have been great 4 or 5 years ago but today, not a chance.

I think Nintendo will be in just as much trouble as Sony soon but at least they got first party titles that offer an experience some people might think is worth buying their device for.

Sure is subjective but as far as gaming, just to give an example, the ASUS transformer as a gaming device (and a computer) is far greater than the PS Vita. Some phones are too.

PS: They come with the GTA titles too.
