A larger number of ships. Honestly there is no current counter to alpha ships, which is why I like the proposed idea of concentrated fire diminishing returns. No idea if it'll make it in for inferno, but perhaps shortly after it. Would be nice to see a fleet fight with more than one target being fired on. (Or a few, in the case of giga-alpha fleets that can alpha multiple capitals at a time.)

This does reqiure your main's alliance to not be completely incompetent with bombers though.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

Maybe sticking my neck out with this but whatever ::deal with it:: etc. I don't believe it's a secret at all anyway.

You just need to take them real close. Have a copious amount of bubblers on hands. Have an effective prober that is quick at it's job. Alpha Maelstroms are at their best around the 50..75km slice. That's where they want to be. Closer than that and tracking can turn very problematic. 1000 Alphas is well enough to nuke triaged carriers in ONE volley so there is no tanking that, really. Against that many alpha steeds, no amount of reps will save your boats. You'll get to see a lot of yellow boxes on overview then BAM it's too late you're dead so expect to lose boats at steady rate.

You can win with skirmish tactics. Alphas are slow to turn around... Probe them, warp in, bubble up and collect your killmails. A flock of bombers can mop the floor really quick.

It knows what you think.

I always thought that a Remote Resistance Booster module would work pretty well if it existed.

Bit like remote reps, but would let you boost another ship's shield or armor resists .

So as soon as someone was being targetted you would get the logi to remote boost their resists, effectively giving them massive EHP.

Passive targetting would be a problem though I guess....

Since Maelstroms usually don't have sebos they have a limited lockrange. If you can get them bubbled TidiCats could do the job I guess.
Also, Lockout made a good point: there is a point that you have enough alpha anyway, so if you can get a good number of high rof ships you can murder them at a rather high rate, hopefully higher than they can kill you (think Panicgeddons).
Cheapest would probably be to bomb them.

Not be bad?

Also we never have 1000 man Maelstrom fleet anymore you ******* ******** pubbie. Once you get past the 250 (incl Support which is 6 Comand Ships + Anti Support + Dictors) You don't get much benefit out of more Alpha.

It would also help if your FC's weren't ******** and you posted with your main. But no. NPC Alt Away and complain about the much needed titan nerf.
