Naga or Oracle for fleet sniper?

I've just gotten back into the game after over a year's absence, and I am very interested in getting into one of the new BCs as a fleet sniper (which, I have heard, is pretty much all they're good for).

I have about equal skills in energy and hybrid turrets, so the question really becomes: is there a reason to choose a Naga over an Oracle (or vice versa), or are they essentially the same when it comes to sniping? I've looked up sniper builds for both on battleclinic, and both seem to be fairly highly rated. I'm just looking for where the edge is, if there is any... as, in the looks department (if that's the only determining factor), I guess I prefer the Naga.

better damage from the oracle, better range from the naga. Naga has more mids for sebo's and TC's, oracle has more lows for TE's and heat sinks. I prefer the oracle myself but thats just coz i lub laz0rs. they are both fairly similar.

Incidentally the Tier 3 bc's are also very good as glass cannons. Talos puts out crazy dps 1300+ and oracle can hit out to 75-80k with megapulse and scorch

common misconception. they dont have strong tank, but are very mobile. mobility is king

that are the "standard" sniping fits for oracle and naga...they're not that different in perfomance imo.

Im partial to the naga. I like the Optimal bonus, getting higher quality hits at longer range and being able to load out tracking computers and sensor mods helps a lot. Being able to use the comps to swap to more tracking and more opt as the situation calls for is nice as well. Better then static TE bonuses IMO when you need flexibility.

In PvP sniping Naga hits Kin and Therm res holes. Two resists that are not normally things people plug the holes of. It hits Shield and Arm tanked ships equally well in most cases. Since most people will plug the weakest res on their tank first its usually EM or EXP. And them Plugging EXP or EM depending on tank and that will usually put that hole higher then its secondary weaknesses you are shooting against.

While the oracle hits Em and Therm holes. If the target is arm tanked you might have a problem as its highest res stats will normally be against Em and Therm. If its shield tanked you will destroy them of course.

Damage profiles are here. The ammo choices are for 100 km, which gives the Naga a large advantage in DPS, but the Oracle has better tracking and deals more closer in. Whether you want to be inside HML/Scorch range is another question...

Like any good EFT Warrior, I've ignored tracking, ship mobility, lock ranges and I have a magical ability to always have exactly the right ammo loaded. Big smile

There's an interesting option to drop the cap-hogging Invuln on the Naga for a RSD or tracking disruptor.
