My launcher (1.11 TQ) finishes downloading the patch file, then tosses a Python traceback

Platform is Linux (although I would be surprised if this issue is Linux-specific, hence I am posting here), Mint 9 LTS (2.6.32 kernel), 1.4.0 Wine from the official Wine PPA.

Best I can tell (being a Python/C++ dev myself) is that this is a launcher bug of some sort.
