I just returned to the game, and I have about six weeks of training time until I can really devote time to the game. I can fly a basilisk, and I just need a few days to train more skills around the basilisk. My question is, how often are logi ships used outside of incursions? It sounds like a fun ship to fly, but I don't want to do JUST incursions (I have interest in joining another wh corp). Thanks in advance.

There are a couple uses for them, but they're not horribly common. The main uses I can think of (other than Incursions) are 0.0 fleets, lvl 5 missions, or high-end 0.0 exploration sites.

I enjoy supporting small gang PVP in a solo Basilisk. It's also great for higher end WHs and POS repping. I think most large logi based gangs tend to rock armor, so the Guardian is more stand out than the Basi there.

Ed: Basi may not be ok for doing C6. I've never done those. Works fine in C5.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

I've done C5 escalations using basilisks with no issue at all. I suppose it's possible they couldn't do a C6, but I'd find it unlikely. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

The Scimi is generally more popular in PVP than the Basilisk, due to its increased speed and survivability.

However Basis are popular for incursions, and for PVP somewhat, however ALMOST all (Note I said almost, yes you can do it solo, but its very unusual) require a Buddy to function.

TLDR, Basis are more Popular for PVE Activities, and are somwhat used in PVP, however Scimis are used more often.

Actually the power rep of a Basilisk it's based on a design of teamwork just like Guardians.
Thing about Scimis is that if you see so many everywhere is simple because they're far so good that they cover all needs you could possibly have for a couple Basilisks.

Cons of using Basis: dependant on another ship to remote energy, larger sign radius, less agility, slower, expensive > Scimi

This doesn't mean you shouldn't try to find a place for your Basilisk because it's unwanted in some field you'd like to cover. There are a lot of nice people all around this place that actually use their brains some times and like variety and game fun rather that isk efficiency or fancy killboards.
