So every time I meet somebody who has never PVPed before, they always talk about their amazing stealth bombers.. And how they are going to go PVP in them and gatecamp... yadda yadda yadda.

Why are pvp-noobs so obsessed with stealth bombers? What made them think stealth bombers are even viable for solo pvp?

The only reason I ask is because I literally see it everywhere I go.

Something with a Stealth mechanic being popular in a video-game.

Quick, call the Internet Police!

Its probaly from all the videos on youtube showing stealth bombers flying in on a group of frigates gate camping launching their bombs and wipeing out the gate camp so in a sense they are a viable solo pvp ship since if one stealth bomber can fly into a frigate gate camp of like 20 and kill like at least 5 of them or more then that will be solo pvp which also makes them great kill mail whoring ships.

They are good pack hunters, I wouldn't say they are amazing solo pvp ships. They are basically frigate swarms that take the weakest point about the swarm (being a frigate) and put a covert ops cloak on it so that it can avoid fights they cant win. Swap the light weapons most have for torpedoes designed to kill big juicy targets and they become viable pvp ships for organized groups of people. Bombs are easy for new players, torpedoes are deadly in the hands of the practiced.

What kind of awfully piloted frig blobs are you bombing solo and getting 5 kills out of?

Also what system and time EVE time? P

I have never done it myself but I have seen a few videos of people doing it so apparently there are awefully piloted frigate blobs out there just got to be able to find them.

Actually, stealth-bombers are pretty viable solo ships.
Recently in our wormhole, an experienced player and his Purifier pitched a tent, with a small bubble, plenty of ammo, and probes. He was in there for weeks, logging in, cloaking, watching us, waiting. He was ridiculously hard to catch, and, to be honest, not worth the effort, but he killed many a' pilot who was too slow to react, AFK, or just plain billy silly.
When we did eventually bother to kick him out, a few weeks later, another guy showed up in a Nemesis and has been doing the same. Both of them have a killboard history of solo SB WH PvP, and the stats on their killboard show it can be done well.

Setting up camp in an occupied wormhole with a stealth-bomber isn't a bad idea, there's usually plenty of action, and people who can be killed with relative ease. A SB can kill most HACs designed for WH farming in a C1-C3, so long as they have an active tank without a plate/shield extender. Noctis', mining barges, exhumers, and haulers are all valid (and easy!) targets, too.

As others have said, the reason 'noobs' like them is because of their low cost, low SP requirements, ability to pick and choose engagements, etc. Also I guess bombs look pretty cool.

Hell yeah.

EDIT: Bombers are just cool. I mean, first off, who doesnt love Torpedoes, beside Indy & other fat ships. Bombs are cool, but Torpedoes are where it's at. I still think that Bombers are under utilized, at least in High Sec. I mainly trained for a Bomber because it looked sexy and the name Bomber.

Noobs like stealth bombers because the are fairly cheap and they seem to think they are more likely to stay alive.

I like SB's because yes they ARE fairly cheap and you can have a lot of fun in them, which is, after all, why we are all here Blink. And i do like to stay alive as long as possible!

Because they see the big DPS totals on a frigate, and don't take into account the silly amounts of damage reduction that sig and speed play on torps.

That's definitely the biggest misconception of Bombers. They are NO WAY survivable if it starts hitting the fan.

Heh, I was slowboating towards a Naga in my Bomber, probably would've engaged at less tha 1km. But in no way are they instant win buttons showering you with cash and women.
