Launcher Fail...Day Three

I deleted the client when all the launcher fiasco began. Cleaned up my hard drive and went to eve.com to download the client. In the past many years, this has never been a problem. Accept the agreements, accept the default install address, click install, get the message to manually download. I have just finished the second manual download, clicked on the "executable" (another word for the broken launcher) and I go on a merry journey accepting the agreements, accepting the default file location, click on install...and I get the error message I'll have to download manually...wtf is this all about? Eve worked beautifully, better that ever...until this screw up over a launcher. I shake my head in wonder. Meanwhile I have two paid accounts that I can't play. Roll back the stupid launcher for gods sake till you get it right.

Developers...you guys are completely missing the freaking point here! Our games worked fine until the launcher. Why does my antivirus think it is under attack? Because the launcher behaves dangerously. I will not shut off my internet security. It is irresponsible to ask customers to do so. The problem is the launcher…not me, not my computer, not my antivirus, not my firewall and not my ISP, BECAUSE ALL THESE THINGS ARE UNCHANGED FROM A WEEK AGO!

I don’t understand tech babble but I do understand economics. In 15 days the payment for my main is up, a few days after that my alt. Between now and then, I will try once per day to download the client seamlessly without BS tweaking, executables, packets, manual downloads, disabling antivirus or firewall, “dropping the repair tool” into the file” and other uncalled for crap while you try to save your precious launcher.

A launcher is a good idea and I understand its benefits. In the immediate case, it is a total failure. And where is the mighty Mittani fighting for us? Another fail. The last fail, expected of course, is no response to my petition, but that is just par for the course and the price you pay in addition to actual money for playing Eve.

Having read even more on the forums, CCP did their best but couldn't possibly make the launcher compatible with every known computer configuration. Mine is fairly common I think, W7, 64bit, 8GB RAM, 1GB VRAM, Norton Internet Security.

Hi,

Can you tell me what the error you are getting in the full installer? What does it say before asking you to do the manual download? Knowing the error message is the key to finding out the reason why you're experiencing this issue so it would be helpful if you could post it here.

As a sidenote, having issues downloading the full installer is not related to the Launcher. It is more likely that you're having issues accessing the CDN (Content Delivery Network) where the full installer is. The reason why it can't be related to the Launcher is because the Launcher isn't even present or has any function when you are downloading the full installer. It would be like delivering a package using a delivery service and blaming the contents of the box (EVE Online and the Launcher) rather than the delivery service (CDN) for when the package doesn't arrive.

If you are having issues with accessing the CDN, the best course of action is to contact Customer Support by filing a petition, they can then ask you for various information that they would need to start a support case with the CDN we use.

But posting what error message you are getting when trying to install the game, is the first step.

I apologize for my recent postings blaming everybody but mostly CCP for screwing up my game with the new launcher. It turns out I was more stubborn than the actual fix. Both accounts are up and running.
