T2 vs faction heavy missiles

I seem to see EVERYONE using faction heavy missiles in all their pvp ships. I don't understand why tho. Besides the sig radius penalty added to your ship and a small difference in range, t2 heavy missiles on stats alone seem far better in every respect. so why use faction?

T2 trauma

Volume: 0.0300 m3
Mass: 1,000 kg
Radius: 300 m
Batch Size: 5,000
Hitpoints: 70 HP
Tech Level: 2
Meta Level: 5
Inertia Modifier: 1,000.00
Explosion Radius: 215 m
Explosion Velocity: 97 m/s
Flight time: 9.00 sec
Speed: 3,750 m/s
Approximate Range: 33.75 km

Ship Modifiers
Signature Radius: 5.40%

faction trauma

Volume: 0.0300 m3
Mass: 1,000 kg
Radius: 300 m
Batch Size: 100
Hitpoints: 70 HP
Tech Level: 1
Meta Level: 2
Inertia Modifier: 1,000.00
Explosion Radius: 125 m
Explosion Velocity: 81 m/s
Flight time: 10.00 sec
Speed: 3,750 m/s
Approximate Range: 37.5 km

It seems to me everyone believes faction missiles have an easier time hitting smaller faster things, but based on stats that shouldn't be true.

Whats your opinions and ideas on this subject.

It seems like you lack comprehension of what Explosion Radius and Explosion Velocity do to the effective DPS on the target. I would suggest researching them a bit more.

yes it does seem that i misunderstood explosion radius. but not velocity. wouldn't the velocity make up for a gimped radius? also wouldn't the fact that 99 percent of all pvp ships using a micro-warp drive account for explosion radius differences?

No.

For most part this, but unless you are shooting a lot of stuff under BC size during a fight it might not be worth the DPS loss from time it takes to reload as you can still kill cruisers easy enough with Fury.. Frigs on other hand it's best to swap to the faction or precision T2's.

Thats why.
The difference between faction and t2 Missiles on a double LSE, CDFE, PermaMWD Drake is 911m sig radius, from 2047 to 2958. With that, your speed to signature radius goes down from 0.51 to 0.35.

So, basically you're sacrificing 43dps for 911m less sig radius, better damage projection and better damage on small stuff.
Sounds like a pretty cool deal if you ask me.
