So I had this issue a month or to ago where it was impossible to scan anything down with probes. My scanning skills are pretty good and I've been scanning for years, but nothing could get scanned down. No signal greater than around 23%. The solution the last time this happened was to clear catch files and delete scan filters, then recreate them. It worked last time.

This time scanning is broken much the same way as last time. This time around, clearing catch files and deleting scan result filters does NOT fix the problem.

It seems like the points where the probes are telling me the signal is is not where the eve client believes it to be, if that makes sense. I'll hit scan and the results will show the signal location in one general area, then I narrow down the probes on that area and everything seems fine. I'm narrowing and narrowing my five probes further and further.

Eventually at 2au size, signal is lost completely. Come back up to 4au probe size and signal is still gone. 8au, 16au and eventually back up to the maximum 32au size and the signal location has radically moved somewhere else.

I start narrowing down on that new location. Down to 8au and signal is lost again. Back to 32au and the signal location is back to its original area when I first began. Rinse and repeat all of the above several times now.

I tried it again and narrowed it down to 2au. This time I made sure none of my probes overlapped the signal. The signal then stays constant and steady where it *should* be. However as soon as three or more probes cover that signal location, it vanishes. I can repeat this bizarre event over and over with the same strange results.

I'm not a newbie. I have good SP in scanning and I've had plenty of scanning experience for years now, both with the old system and the new. The fault is not on my end.

Problem still not resolved.
Ingame GMs are clueless.

I've tried repairing the client multiple times.
I've tried deleting the catch through the launcher tool.
I've tried deleting the catch manually.
I've tried deleting the ingame scan filters.
I've tried using the default Show All filter with no success.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the EvE client.
I'm using a dedicated scanning ship.
All of my relevant scanning skills are lvl 4 or higher.

What else can I do?

This is clearly not a problem on the users end, nor is this an isolated incident as many players ingame are experiencing the same issue. Some players can scan just fine whereas other players can't scan down anything.

CCP really needs to look into this.

nah did the same nothing works as well as deleteing whole client starting from scratch starting to really get **** off here. some help please?

I have reported this as a bug.

The GMs came back saying the problem is user error. The GM said I need to learn how to use filters (not exact words) and I'll be able to scan down what I want. Basically treated me like an ignorant newbie.


Heh, been playing since '08 and the problem is user error? Come on now.

Hands up here, also had this issue at the beginning of last week.

Sigs simply disappearing at about 25% - again not a newbie, lived in WH for long time high scanning skills.

To say that this bug needs to be fixed is an understatement.

CCP acknowledge this and sort it out.

I was having this exact same issue happening to me, nothing past 23% @ 2AU, signal lost, wont return at higher ranges.

I went ahead and tried turning on all subtypes in the scan result filter and it worked. I was able to get a 100% hit on a signature.

However I still think this is a bug, turn on all the Subtypes? Whats the point in having a filter then? What if I just wanted to hunt down a LADAR site?

Unless the probes are unable to determine the exact TYPE of signature beyond a certain range, which is an issue that wasn't made clear in the tutorials, and should be.

Unfortunately this is not a fix to the problem. Show All still yields the same problem.

Yeah, I have this problem as well, I thought it was my Thrasher that wasn't good enough. I find the signatures, then I close on them so that I get a red dot, and then when I go closer it disappears. Annoying...
