So I ran my script to see what was gone with the patch, and look..

Deleted:
Mining Drone - Improved UNUSED
Mining Drone - Elite
Hellhound I

These drones dropped from npc convoys in 2003 and missions in 2005 or so and were in perfect working order. Why did CCP destroy BILLIONS worth of drones?

There's other stuff that was deleted that I can understand (like the defunct mines), but why the drones? People obtained them through normal gameplay mechanics and they worked fine, not to mention them being highly valuable collector items!

I'm not amused.

EDIT:

Here's what should be a fairly exhaustive list of what players owned that was deleted:

270 Python Mine
1217 Python Mine Blueprint
3733 Cobra Mine
3735 Anaconda Mine
3736 Anaconda Mine Blueprint
3737 Asp Mine

10248 Mining Drone - Improved UNUSED
10252 Mining Drone - Elite
16206 Hellhound I

27029 Chalcopyrite
27216 Hardwiring - Inherent Implants 'Gentry' ZEX100

If anyone else has something that was removed let me know and i'll add it.

CCP, please restore these items :/

I also lost a bunch of mines. Luckily still have my Harvesters and my (unique?) Tutorial Attack Drone. If CCP would work at a museum I'd bet they would just throw the old stuff with the garbage whenever they want to put in something new. Evil

If my Melted Snowballs or Launcher vanished, I know I'd be raging... So, anyone who's lost Mines has my full sympathy...

Hopefully they'll be re-instated.

I googled it to rule out sarcasm, but I couldn't find out more about this 'perpetual motion generator'. What is it? Shocked

This. IIRC it was part of the trader tutorial at one point. I recall doing it with my trader/industry alt at one point long time ago.

The mines are likely to be reinstated; the drones I don't have any plans to reinstate right now as there doesn't seem to be any clear sign that they were being intentionally distributed, and names like "Improved UNUSED" make me wary. I am of course open to further discussion on this issue, but we had a lot of types caught in the sweep that very definitely *shouldn't* have been in player hands, and we're generally erring on the side of caution in this regard.

See thread a few posts down:

CCP Greyscale wrote:
Ok, so.

Bettik and I have been running a cleanup programme on our data over the last six months or so. We cleaned out a lot of internal crud in our data revisioning system before Christmas, Bettik reviewed every type in the game over the holidays to make sure the "published" flag was set correctly in all of them (this governs what's eligible for autolinking and contracts), and in January I went over the same data to try and clean out all the obsolete types sitting around in our system.

The criteria was basically that anything that should never have been legitimately in player possession, wasn't a current testing/GM tool, and wasn't likely to be made available in the immediate future, was flagged for deletion. We ended up deleting 1031 types, out of a total of 11430.

Out of these ~1k types, there are nine that I'm now looking at as candidates for restoration: the four mines, their blueprints, and obviously the Mimir blueprint. The Mimir was a straight-up mistake; the mines I'd flagged for deletion based on the (mistaken) assumption that we'd removed the actual mines themselves years ago and only the blueprints were in circulation, and it seems that when you delete a type, it also (sensibly, in retrospect) deletes the type's blueprint.

The good news is that when we do this sort of delete, the server keeps track of the deleted items for a while, and we made a copy of those data last night, so we know who owned what quantity of every deleted type. We don't have any of the information on blueprint research, so any returned blueprints will have "default" values (which I don't see as a huge problem for something that's primarily a collectors' item).

We don't do this sort of delete very often (as you can probably guess from how many types we caught in this sweep); there is a process for getting them reintroduced, but we have a few technical cobwebs to clean out of it before we can make use of it, and at this point in time I can't 100% guarantee that this will work properly. We are however actively pursuing reinstatement of the abovementioned items, and we'll keep you updated on our progress. I'm hoping to have this sorted in the next couple of weeks; normally I'd say "within a week" but fanfest next week makes all our estimates a little less predictable right now. In the meantime, contracts containing these items are likely to have issues, but otherwise things should continue to work normally.

How about our Capsules? I had 13 of them stacked in my hangar in the last cleanup - gone.

Not that they are worth anything and I am aware it then was not possible to "make" them, but it was kind of nice having them as a part of clone jump history.

Also they don't fall in the category of not supposed to be in the player hands.

I wantz my mines back! , also i thought it was customary for CCP to give players 2x Plexes every time you remove an "non player item" from players that they have somehow gotten their hands on ..?

I also wonder, did the Jovian Body parts from early 2004 survive this sweep, if not i know some one that will rage after spending billions getting quite a few of them :P

As long as CCP wants to reimburse me 500 million ISK for my 5 Elite Mining drones. These worked just fine and were not exactly free, people have been trading and selling them for years.

Anyone that popped convoys back then will be able to tell you those mining drones dropped by the thousands, along with Harvester Drones (why not delete those too while at it?)

The hellhounds were unintentional drop in missions but CCP fixed them and stated they will not delete them:

You sure you're not talking about Harvesters now? Else I'll happily pay 100m/each for your Elite drones...
