Not able to complete courier contract

Hi everyone,

I have a problem regarding a courier contract i was doing with an alt. While watching TV I looked into the courier package. In it there was a small container and in the small container there were 10 republic fleet gyros. They were not stacked.

So while watching TV i clicked here and there (i was bored^^) and without any reason i stacked the items. I did not break the courier package.

After transporting the package I tried to deliver it, but an error message popped up telling me some items of the package are missing. Well there are no items missing but i can imagine why it thinks there are.

The problem is that the collateral is about 300 mil higher then the items worth so i don't want to break the package to trade them through a contract for my collateral (costumer would be stupid if he did). Even if I asked him I couldn't trust him.

I filed a petition on that topic but since it could take some time till I get an answer I thaught i could asked if anyone experienced something similar who could tell me how it went out.

Any chance CCP spawning some gyros for the costumer, deleting the courier package and giving me the collateral back?

In simple terms by 'fondling' the items in the container (you should not of been able to open the can without breaking the contract)
you have in fact failed the contract

This is how they work, you will have to bite the bullet and take the 300mill hit and learn from your experience

And no no no no CCP will not do what you want in terms of the creating of items...

Still the only person to offer corp creation free of charge. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=35634#post35634 Created over 200 was 3rd on the all time corporation job history on eve-board. This service is in stasis due to personal game time...

Well it didn't fail.

At least it hadn't failed before I went to work (I think but now I'm not 100 % sure anymore). But since I won't be able to check that since even if it didn't fail it will have failed when I come home due to time out.

So... if I don't write again you were right. If somehow it really didn't fail it and there was a bug i will update this post.

Definitely talk to the contract issuer. If he really wanted the modules moved, you can contract him the package (or the mods themselves) for your collateral + reward back. Worst case, he laughs at you, you end up with a bunch of overpriced gyros. Which is also the best case if you don't talk to him.

This is a new one for me. Never seen that before. I wasn't aware that it was possible to stack the items or manipulate them in any way. I'd be interested to hear how your petition turns out, if you make it that far.

I will definetly post how it went out when i recieve an answer.

If I had broken the courier package the contract would have failed immediatly, wouldn't it? But it failed about two hours ago due to time out.

I assume that you tried unstacking them within the courier package. Shift-click 'n' drag within the container that they are in.

By looking inside the courier package you did not fail the courier, you are free to nose around inside the packages as much as you want. I always look at what I am carrying, never know, I might be missing out on something Smile

That's what you get for fondling another man's package without his permission. Pervert.

I don't always play EvE, but when I do, I prefer it to be a masochistic sandbox hell. Stay wardecked my friends.

The contract can only be failed by either the hauler or the client and only by pressing the button to do so on the contract. Even if the package is destroyed, it won't fail until the client or the hauler fails the contract. Even when it expires and goes past the deadline, one of the two has to fail the contract.

Yeah, I tried that when i recognized I couldn't complete the contract. But unlike stacking the items unstacking them is not permitted inside a courier package... a nice popup told me that.

In that case I suggest following up your petition with that information if you didn't include it in the original and flag it as a bug.
