So you are going to **** and moan about .49c worth of gametime lost? Common, there are worse issues with many many other games involving DRM, their own Downloaders, and many other things I could list.

Having a completely new system bork a bit for <1% of the playerbase for a few days after release to a Worldwide playerbase is pretty standard issue and actually not as bad as it could have been.

I doubt you can find any game out there that charges a montlhy fee subscription and makes the system unavailable to players.
Well yeah, its not like it is a big deal, could have been worse, but that standard issue also includes compensating the service paying clients when they get deprived of it. From the moment you let em get away with small incompetence and disrespect for client rights, it only tends to get worse

Name one MMO that has given the users anything when service was either interrupted for less than a day or two? I have seen it happen when service may have been down for an extended amount of time or when it effected a large population of the userbase, but that is extremely rair.

Remember EVE is a SERVICE. When has your ISP creddited your account when it was down for any sort of time? When has your Cable/Dish TV provider done the same?

None of these services do it unless it is a extremely unique/large scale case.

Hey... "broski" lemme ask you something.. DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH? CAN YOU READ IT?

Yeah? well tell me what do you read here:

"If you fail to install the new release when required, CCP shall not be responsible in any way for your inability to acess the System or play EVE and you shall not be entitled to compensations"

Do you know the meaning of a sentence containing the word "IF", followed by a present tense part and a future tense one?

No? ok let me explain you - Its a conditional sentence, meaning that if something happens in the present, other thing will happen in the future. Cause and effect.

example: If you take your head out of your ass, open your eyes and read that sentence, you will interpret there that CCP will not have to compensate me whatsoever, IF (******* ----- IF -----) I fail to install a patch when required

As i have explained 100 times before (this will be the last one) I DID NOT FAIL TO INSTALL ANY PATCH, CCP DID FAIL TO RELEASE A WORKING ONE

CAPISCE? COMPRENDE, HOMBRE? DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

Shall i make you a drawing? a computer schematic maybe?

You do realize that "Your" intrepretation of the EULA doesn't actually make it say what you want it to say? It is written properly and means that if you can't get the service, EVEN if you already paid for it, they have no obligation to give a wooden nickel about it.

They do care though and are working still to get the game up and running for everyone. The latest Complete build is Todays version which wasn't updated since 1.5 and new users are starting to get it to work when they couldn't before for some reason.

If some DEV decides to toss you some free time, then good for you. But outside of that, use the help that is all over this forum to get back in and play, or don't. Remember you are the <1%.. So far out of the hundreds of thousands of users, this forum hasn't been all that swamped with launcher issues today..

Endeavor Starfleet wrote "&quot"And no you can't "demand" anything. Especially a PLEX. This is not a contract and you are not guaranteed service."&quot"

Oh and for the sweety playing small time CCP defense attorney, i got you sista:

EVE® Online
END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

"Chapter 6.TERMINATION; SUSPENSION OF ACCOUNT

A. By CCP for Termination of the Game
CCP does not guarantee that it will continue to offer access to the System or support the Game. CCP may, in its sole discretion, cease to provide any or all of the services offered in connection with EVE (including access to the System and any or all features or components of the Game), terminate the EULA, close all Accounts and cancel all of the rights granted to you under the EULA. CCP may communicate such termination to you upon 30 days notice in any of the following manners: (i) when you log into your Account; (ii) in a notice on CCP's website; (iii) via electronic mail; or (iv) in another manner that CCP deems suitable to inform you of the termination. If CCP terminates the EULA pursuant to this section, you will not receive a refund of prepaid subscription fees. "

-CCP can shut down the entire game when they want all right, and not compensate its users for any prepaid subscription fees. However, to be in that right they must have communicated to the costumer that same event with the minimum of thirty (30) days of anticipation, by any of those means stated above.

Now, i do not believe neither I or any other EVE user has seen any announcement or notification anywhere 30 days before they were deprived of access to the System.

I also believe that according to International and Iceland national laws, the failure to fulfil that agreement will present CCP with the obligation to compensate its costumers with the value of each day of service they would have to get during the 30 day notification anticipation period, i.e. in this case we would have to get the value of a full plex (30 days) because there was no warning whatsoever that we would lose access to the game.

Whos your daddy now?

@CCP CCP Donut Golem

I don’t know if this is of any relevance to you but might help with problems people are having with Steam.

Last night I was playing Skyrim and at the end of the game did my usual exit to desktop, then right click the Steam taskbar icon and exit that to close Steam.

I then tried to open an Eve client but on double clicking the desktop icon just received a quick flash of the Crucible splashscreen and then nothing.
I tried the same with a second account and this did nothing at all, no splashscreen, nothing. I checked with Task Manager to see if any odd things were running but nothing showed up.

I had to reboot the computer to clear what ever it was blocking the launcher, after the reboot everything worked fine.

I'm still having this issue. I have done the following to attempt to rectify it.

Ran the repair tool, failed on the same error
Uninstalled eve, downloaded the client fresh and re-installed, same error, tried repair again, same error.
since i was getting permission denied, i went to the directory and changed to full control for everyone, and applied down the directory tree, same error.

I'm a systems engineer, but i'm at a loss at this point. Please help.

Also it would be nice if the updates were available for local manual install as they used to be so i could atleast download a manual patch.

i found that i was able to launch eve directly from the bin folder. I'm not sure if this issue will clear up or not but at least you have data. if you need the full log file to investigate please let me know. Smile
