Multiple copies of Eve on Linux

So far, I have been unable to get eve to launch in two different WINE client windows. But, I have been able to run windowed in wine with two clients. This makes it much more difficult to do multiple clients, of course.

If anyone comes up with solutions on this, I would be very interested.

I tried this, it failed:
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/games/CCP/Eve
/usr/bin/env WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.wine" DISPLAY=":0.0" /usr/bin/aoss wine explorer /desktop=e2,1024x768 "c:\Games\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe /noconsole"

Any ideas?

Figured it out. You have to tell the launcher to close after you launch. Start the launcher, click the 'tool' looking item in the upper right corner, and check the box "Close the EVE Launcher after starting EVE Online". I also selected only display the launcher windows when there is an update.

Multiboxes just fine after that. (Though I can only do 2 clients even with 8gig of ram.)

4gig, 2 clients, with max-ed settings. Am I doing smth. wrong? Straight There is some other bottleneck in your system, not ram.

Yeah guessing it's this crappy core 2 duo. Oh well, what are you gonna do.

Do you have an issue where you run 2 clients then the third doesn't respond and then when you try to start the client in bash it says something about not having enough files free?

I had that problem. you need to increase your ulimit.

in bash enter ulimit -s
If it says something like 1024 then you need to increase this.
Can be done by editing /etc/security/limits.conf and replacing at the bottom the soft and hard values to something bigger. Make them a multiple of 10 (10240) and you should have no problems.

I'm running 4 clients fairly well with 4 gig ram. Hardly even touches the paged memory.
