Solo a web for sure, otherwise they'll get away. Downside of a MWD, is when you get scrammed instead of disrupted you'll be the slowest thing in the world with a dual plated BS.

Would you keep the mwd or ditch it for an afterburner?

EDIT: Also, what about switching the diruptor for a scram? Hold my opponent down even more.

On almost all ships I prefer the scram/web/AB combo instead of mwd/disrupter or any other combination. I want to tie them down and not let them go.

You are in a dual plated BS, an AB means you go as fast as a slow Cruiser...if its webbed and scrammed

What exactly are you planning to fight solo and where?

The fit is decent for solo work (the neuts, torps, drone bay make it so) but you're just too big and slow. The web is a requirement for your torps and for you to be able to stay in range. You will have a hard time catching anyone...in other words the only people that will come fight you are people that want to fight a solo phoon...

Which means small gangs will come after you, or large gangs...or anyone that sees you on scan and has friends 5 jumps over (i.e. EVE!)

Your fit is OK, So whats your hunting plan?

If you can use it (low sec against sentries or 00), drop a neut for a smartbomb. Otherwise ECM drones will make you cry (the phoon has poor sensors).
web > painter indeed

And post your drone cargo bay too.

I like to fly something similar in small fleets, using a TP to aid the other ships and my torps.

Solo, definitely wanna make it a web. Pin 'em down, keep them down.

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.

I don't really fly with a plan. P More or less by the seat of my pants. I'm trying to find a ship that has utility, damage output. tank and the ability to hold a target down. This fit seems like it might be ok for station games.

I also copied the same fit (save for the extra slot and hp) over to the Fleet Issue Typhoon (for station games, undock gank, redock).

It has double the raw hp (not ehp, ehp is about 60k more)

Solo-phoon is a lot of fun, definitely stick with the MWD. Torps will do fine versus most BC gangs but if they mix in any HAC's at all you might have better luck with AC's, they end up with much more applied DPS.

If you're ever getting off stations, consider fitting the Phoon entirely with tank (active hardners are sexy) in the lowslots and rigging for damage - this lets you keep a respectable 1.6k m/s OH speed even with the two plates, which gives you a lot more utility in terms of running targets down and jumping into camps and pulling people off gate. It also makes it dirt-cheap to fit without trimarks. Ogres are often too damn fat for this kind of work so ignore the pretty EFT numbers and go with Berserkers or sentries.
