Client update was unsuccessful [RESOLVED]

As of downloading and updating to the new version of the EVE Client, and attempting to patch the needed information with the new Launcher, progress is stopped at about 10% by an 'exception' window and the message in the launcher 'Clent update was unsuccessful'

The pop-up window has an 'OK' button to close it, and contains a lengthy bug report which I cannot properly provide as the forums do not allow for HTML information to be posted.

Currently, the issue is completely preventing play, and any attempts to create a petition for the issue have been met with a general error stating my petition could not be sent.

Try having the launcher in the foreground. If that doesn't work, try having nothing else open while it's applying the patch. One of those resolved it for me.

I have tried both methods suggested and still encounter the same issue.

To clarify some of what I'm seeing, and what I use:

My system is Windows 7 64bit

The launcher version appears as v.1.05

Patching progress begins at 5.2% of the patch already loaded as soon as the launcher begins patching, and stops consistently at 11.6% before displaying the 'Client update unsuccessful' message and the error report.

I've found problems too. It stops at roughly 5% and an exception pops up. It starts with:

You running the launcher as administrator? Not sure if that helps.

I receive something similar, however the entire report is in excess of 5500 characters, and contains HTML coding that prevents me from posting it verbatum to the forum.

I can, however, confirm that I'm receiving a different error, the first lines of which are as follows:

Quote:

I did, same error :(

Edit: I'm going to restart my PC to see if it helps.

I get the same result when running as administrator too.

Also to note: When I launch EVE to begin all this, EVE launches to the original log in page, notifies me of an update ready to apply, which it then applies and THEN brings me to the new Launcher during this process.

There's most likely some file in use.

Try to close all instances of internet explorer (if any are open) and try again.

If that doesn't help, reboot, then try again.

If your EVE shortcut still fires the client (and not the launcher), go to your EVE installation folder and launch the launcher shortcut you can find there.

I had a similar issue and was able to patch to 100% after a fresh reboot and not opening _anything_ ekse first.

Following these directions yields nearly identical results to what I've been experiencing - only faster.

When running the launcher itself, it starts up properly - but it starts patching at 5% progress, and then instantly jumps to 11.6% progress before pausing for about 3 seconds and then throwing the above exception error.

This of course makes the game unplayable - as I can't patch it to the current build. Further, I can't forward on the verbatum of the error report I receive as the Petition system is apparently down/not allowing me to submit petitions for this issue.

Further, I receive a similar 'Permission denied' error whenever I try to run the repair tool for the client, which appears as follows:

Quote:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "repairTool\progressPanel.pyc", line 82, in _TaskRun
File "repairTool\repairUI.pyc", line 97, in Start
File "repairTool\repairLogic.pyc", line 199, in Repair

File "zsync\fileSync.pyc", line 233, in _ReadChunk
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied
Total Runtime: 0h02m44s

This occurs after checking a file listed as 'resDX9Nebulae.stuff'

Reboot, then run the repair.exe with admin rights. Providing the last few lines of the exception (the text in the popup window) might be helpful, too. If you can't post the code here, try to upload it at http://www.pastebin.org/ and link the stack trace here.

This should show exactly what I receive - it's a rather lengthy error report:

Had this problem.
Repair tool didn't work.
Logged out of Windows 7.
Logged back in.
Ran no other applications & started the launcher.
Patching process completed without complaint.
Eve starts up and runs fine.

Yeah, looks odd. I'd suggest rebooting and then trying again (stay away from clickable links in the patcher).

I've actually been able to resolve the issue thanks to CCP Sputnik, who was trying to help someone else with a different problem

I downloaded the manual patches (provided here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80389&find=unread) and installed them. Now my client works perfectly.
