I got that once and just re-booted the computer. That made the issue go away.

Lucky you! Congrats.

Of course I tried that. Mind you: TRIED that. Issue persisted.

I have the same problem. The updater fails with

Exception in thread UpdaterProcessThread:

File "lib/update.pyc", line 532, in Update

Why oh Why did CCP decide to ship a python with the client ?

I'd really like to be reassured that the mac community here hasn't been forgotten... In the meantime I'm really glad I picked up mass effect 3 the other day.

Created more than one message exactly like this and every time it ends up being deleted. Dunno why...Oops

Currently running MacOSX version 10.7

I cannot even open the Eve client. I've deleted EVEOnline from my computer in its entirety, I've re-downloaded the client, and upon installation I double click the EVE Icon and receive "EVE Online Error" with two buttons "Open Console" and "Terminate"

Upon closer inspection into the syslogs it running into a python error:

The traceback can be found at the following address:

ON A HAPPY NOTE: I am able to get into the game and bypass the stupid launcher entirely by doing the following at a terminal

/Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider -debugmsg +seh,+tid,+module,+debugstr

I managed to avoid the launcher problems, mainly by wandering off and doing something else while it looked like it hung....

And apart from getting frame rate that I could count on one hand on my MacPro (which apparently there is a fix for) nothing seems to be wrong...

On noticeable positive is that my MacBookPro no longer gets red hot... and the MacPro at home no longer sounds like a jet spinning up as the exhaust fans panic.

There is no such thing as a fair fight...

That worked on my iMac, I ran from the cli and it applied an update then the launcher worked. So I can play on one box now :-/

But on the macbook I get spit out with:
sh: /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/tgApplyPatch.app/Contents/MacOS/tgApplyPatch: No such file or directory

I tried copying the tgApplyPatch.app from a couple branches down the filetree to where it seemed to expect it but that didn't work...

At least now I know that it doesn't matter if the mac launcher says it's 1.04 and not 1.09.. Would have been nice to hear that from someone who works at CCP instead of having to hack it out.

OFFTOPIC:
Anybody ever notice how it's nearly impossible to read those orange links against the nebula (under the bannerhead) where it says which forum you're in? Yeah, that's annoying.

The directions are a bit confusing for multiple clients. You will need to use the bottom explanation for it to work if you are using symbolic links. It appears because they are using the launcher there are two EVE Online.app files. The original which is used to open the launcher and the second one to actually start the client. You will need to edit the Info.plist file int he second EVE Online.app package. This is also where you make the symbolic links.

I tried running the client on my macbook again this morning.

Same issue.

What the **** CCP?

Are you ever going to respond to this official thread you made? Was there any point in making this thread if you were not planning to use it?

At this point i'm feeling chagrined that I was happy enough w Crucible 1.1 that I spent actual dollars to buy some PLEX, you can bet your sweet ass I'm never giving this company money again.

You won't even let me get the time I paid for.

All in all, very disappointed in the lack of communication from CCP's end on this patch week. What the **** were you peeople thinking trying to roll out a big point release at the same time you're partying in Iceland?

Exasperated,

This whole thing has gone pear-shaped.

My android device told me my queue was getting low (thought I had set it for a long train, whatever).. So I tried to hop back in on my imac -- which was running the client last night.

Now your idiotic launcher wants to download the ENTIRE ******* CLIENT. After it downloads it'll probably say "Client update unsuccessful", but I won't be here to see it.

So my queue is going to run out later today and I can't do **** about it.

Still waiting to hear something in this thread from CCP. Please stop ignoring us, it's starting to really **** me off.

Miracle!

Minutes ago I tried to start EVE (without expecting anything else but utter failure) but believe it or not the launcher came up. A patch was downloaded and I could log in.

On the down side: the launcher preferences did not offer the option to bypass the launcher if no patches/updates/whatever have to be downloaded as it does on my windows machine. *meh*

Even more on the down side: Where are CCP's officials in this thread? Except for Spitfire's opening post which - as we here all know - is nothing but mere advertisement rubbish, no CCP dev has bothered to show up and give us any info worth reading. Or don't they dare for fearing to be torn into pieces?

• Description of problem, the more verbal the better

Framerate in Space is somewhat lower than before (down from average of 60 FPS to 45 FPS) running at maxed settings.

Framerate in Captains Quarters now ROYALLY BLOWS (down from 20-30 FPS to a stunning 5 FPS)!!!

Clicking on the old EVE icon... says I need to download the patch... so I OK that, and it says it is installing the Launcher - this was 2 hours ago... does it take that long to patch?

Yesterday I tried to create a contract with corp member. Not possible after several attempts.

Even inserting a decimal point into the " I will Pay " field was beyond the scope of our new client. Logged off.

Well, nice to hear that there might be a fix for the Mac... next week.

Too bad you guys can't be bothered to let us know here, directly.

I'm really confused as to why this thread exists, it was obviously never intended to be used to help Mac customers.

I am astonished as well how CCP handles this issue.

Wasn't there a blog of the CEO a couple of months ago or so where he said that they will start to listen to CCP's customers again and don't do and promise things anymore that are too much to actually deliver?

This major update was overfeatured, undertested and the problems are now reduced to affect "a small number of our customers" (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=82013&p=1). According to all sorts of posts, not only here in the Mac forum, but also on the other fora is indicating that if it is a small number, it's still a very huge number compared to other EVE updates.
(Edit: in a blog, it is said that since tuesday, 220'000 have logged in, and 6'000 had issues - I guess this does not count those who have framerate issues - and it doesn't count those whose update process did hang or break completely...)

Facing a disaster like this, I expect
- a high-tier member of CCP to announce what's done at Iceland to solve the problem, and an approx. timeline
- a way to manage the skill queue via website (WE SHOULD HAVE THIS ANYWAY SINCE A LOOONG TIME)
- responses in threads like this
- a rollback of the update asap
- a compensation of some sort
- a serious quality control management upgrade at CCP

I'm astonished an update with serious issues such as connection stalls, breaks, update process failing, all sort of launcher problems AND huge framerate drops was blessed for release.

Personally, I didn't start up EVE (since 1.5 is deployed) and don't plan to do it, so I loose a lot of time now...

I hope the CSM watches and puts this on the table with a grim expression on the face.

Well, my apparently charmed life as a Mac using EVE player has finally come to an end with this update.

When I used my main client the other day, everything worked OK, though honestly I didn't do enough to really test for things like a framerate drop. Today, I try to use my second client, "EVE Online 2". It launches, and downloads the 1.5 update again. Fine, I'm used to that. I press "PLAY", and it launches my main client, "EVE Online." Fair enough. I edit info.plist in the accustomed way, and try again. "EVE Online" starts up. So I hit the boards--there's a new way to symlink a second client. Cool. I follow the directions, and launch EVE Online 2. The launcher comes up, and downloads another patch: "EVE_Online_350962-351477". It downloads the absolute heck out of that patch: I have a screen shot that shows its progress at 34210064.9%, and it wasn't done. It launch EVE Online 2, correctly, but that dies right after displaying the splash screen.

I launch it again. This time, it decides to download a 5.27GB "patch," "EVE_Online_0-352080.patch". As of this writing, it's 56.2% finished. I really hope it works. This is the rockiest experience I've had since I joined up with Incarna, and Incarna was no fun at all.

I have to put it in for me. EVE has always ran super smooth for me for the past year, with everything set to High. 30-45 fps no matter what I was doing. Now it's unplayable with 1.5. I got 2-5 FPS when not even doing anything.

Ever since the winter expansion came out I haven't been playing much since as soon as Incarna was gone. I dock at the station and my EVE Client crashes to desktop. Months go by updates come out, I dock at the station after doing something and crash to desktop. To the point of not even wanting to play just make sure my queue was up.

Now my frame rate is totally gone.

And FanFest is coming too, so seems CCP is more in toa "Party at the Top of the World" then testing this patch. :/

I haven't played eve online in more than one year. Now I wanted to come back for Cruciable. Installation went fine. Landed in captains quarters. Horrible Framerate. Around 5-8FPS. I call this unplayable. Any lead to another thread in the forum where performance tuning is being discussed?

I am stil on default settings. Fresh instalaltion. No tweaks so far.

Multithreads off!

In general the farmerate after the patch is 50% from before. Framerate is usually around 30 fps (still accepltable) after login then it slowly drops below 10 in a few hours and yesterday after several hours of playing IT SUDDENLY DROPPED TO ZERO, causing me to loose my ship and my pod. The UI completely froze and I could not warp the pod away. You can maybe imagine the jeering in local...
Afterwards I was so fussed about the lockup that forgot to upgrade my clone and flew around in my pod and 900 000 skillpoint clone!! Had I lost 32 million skillpoints I would be writing a long petition instead of this post now :-)

Anyway, I hope that the promised fix (early this week, ya?) will fix all framerate problems. I don't want to freeze in PVP ever again.

No mentions about Apple fixes in patch notes - did you miss the deadline for the notes or was the fix scrapped?
