I would also say Total failure is an overstatement, since I for one am running two clients just fine.

Either way, launching a second client now works via launching the EVE Online app again after loading the first client. It will bring you back to the launcher, if you hit Play again, it will launch a second instance of the game. Probably not as quick and smooth as the clone method, but it's finally a built in feature for the Mac.

The Launcher is a bit slow, it could use some love to ensure it loads and gives you access to the game faster. I'm playing on a 2.93 GHz Quadcore i7 iMac and it just seems there is some wasted time querying the server for updates.

Also, a possible crash, the game has hung for me twice when I've tried changing chat channels. I'll keep playing and hopefully the issue doesn't persist.

That is nice, love your stats, glad you are able to play.

You might be able to run 2 clients on one comp but here is what matters --->both me and my roommate can't run our single clients on our computers when yesterday eve worked fine on both computers.

NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

We are not trying to be fancy, eve currently won't work on our Macbook Pros.

If it were not for our alienware comp we would not be able to play eve at all.

Edit: Just noticed on the windows version, you no longer can right click and set destination/warp to location in conversation with agent. Not sure if that was fail or deliberate action but I hate it

I love my Macbook Pro and the OSX series, but I have come to hate the iProducts like iPhone, iPad, etc. So am I considered an "Apple Fanboy" or not?

Well, I got Eve, 1 client, running on my mac pro 2 x 2.66GHz 8GB RAM 10.6.8.

But my 2007 iMac, 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, plenty of hard disk space, 10.5.8, which ran just fine yesterday, will not run at all. The launcher starts up, I click play, I get the crucible splash screen, and after a few seconds it quits. Just gone. Will not run at all.

Edited for more hardware details.

Since newest update, frame-rate has been drawn and quartered - can't even break 12 fps even on lowest settings. Now it often drops to around 8 fps if there are any celestial objects on grid. Clouds seem to be the biggest drain (what is with that?)

Before 1.5 frame-rate at 30 to 55 fps (depending on graphics settings).

Simply put- i have the same result as #42. (Matavhe Rems)

I start the launcher. it says client is ready. The yellow loading bar is all the way to the right. I hit play. The EVE splash screen comes up, i hold my breath a few seconds, then the EVE client icon in the dock disappears. (the client/launcher shuts down)

It's not like I'm missing massive invasion and station takeover with fantastically huge fleets or anything...(I am).

Get this fixed (please).

4 GB Ram

(yeah, it's an older machine. but I was flying fine in fleets yesterday... please fix it).

I'm having the same issue as #19.

13" Macbook, 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo Nvida GeForce 9400M

Post patch my frame rate is down from 15-30 FPS to 4 FPS. Unusably slow.

Everything is just clunky slow and horrible now.

I'm getting this as well, I lost half my frames, Incursion fleets are running at 10fps....and drop to 4-5 if contested.

Even with everything set to low, I still get worse performance post patch than high settings pre patch.

Ok, We managed to get eve working on my roommates computer in a stable fashion with all settings to minimum except resolution and then airdropped the client from his mac to mine so now both macs work and are playable with eve.

The problem is that I had to copy the original client from within the patched copy and and make a backup copy so I could mess around with trying different workarounds.

What I found what works......... having an unpatched copy and trying several times with a fresh unpatched copy until it patches correctly with the launcher. I did this unitll it worked the 4th time. The manual patch would not even load by the way. And no, it was not my connection since we tried first at the college internet, then later at home with our dsl.

I'll repost this from general issues and feedback thread.

iMac 27" early 2011, Core i5 2.7GHz, 12GB RAM, Radeon HD6770 512 MB. FPS dropped quite noticeably. Can't tell exactly what the FPS was before the update (because I didn't care), but feels like it was 60-sh. I used a bit lower then the default graphic settings and never had problems. Even though I've set settings to a minimum, I got 25-30 FPS inside a station (hangar), near a station and in asteroid belt. It's 55-60 when in warp or there's nothing in view like a station or a planet. Cant even imagine how bad it will be in a battle with a few dozen ships. Changing Present Interval, resource cache enabled doesn't make any difference. There is even absolutely no difference between minimum 1024x768 and maximum 2560x1440. I got the same low FPS. Cache reset doesn't help either

This is very sad and a potential deal breaker for me. And I hope this can be fixed.

These settings, prior to Crucible 1.5, produced consistent frame rate in the 25-40 range. Now post-1.5 it's in the 12-20 zone (fullscreen), but interestingly enough, gets much faster in windowed mode (holds steady @ 30 fps). Setting to 'interval immediate' seemed to help the FPS (~38) when in windowed mode only.

As an experiment, I changed to native resolution (2560 x 1440) and turned off anti-aliasing. Fullscreen mode: 15 fps, windowed (which takes up the whole screen), 30fps. That's a bit befuddling.

Looks like someone broke the fullscreen renderer.

(also, the Reset Graphics Settings button really needs an "are you sure" prompt!)

I have a 2011 Macbook pro and prior to Crucible 1.5 I averaged a frame rate in the 55-60 range.. Now i'm getting about 40 FPS. A noticeable drop in performance and serious lag when loading UI elements. Captains Quarters has dropped from a tolerable 25 FPS to 7 FPS. 7 FPS!!!! Not that I used Captains Quarters...

Launcher installed and launched fine. Patches downloaded with no problems. It all took maybe 10 minutes tops. Launch the client and find that my frame rate has bottomed out.

funny, but despite the mac client being broken for the time being I still think I should take a second to compliment ccp on their stability and performance improvements for the mac client over the past six or eight months. The graphics have gone from mediocre to awesome while simultaneously the performance of the client has gotten noticeable better with the past several patches. when I started playing this game I was pretty skeptical about it but the past six months have made me fall in love. just do me a favor and polish up this current version so i can undock.

edit: latest patch has not fixed the issue Version: 7.30.351477 still terribly broken.

No problems but multiboxing instructions needed to be changed.

I have updated the wiki page.

What was changed?

I use the "Duplicating EVE Online.app" method. From what I can see there's a different set of references to the prefs folder (CFBundleDisplayName, CFBundleName etc) and the PrefsFolderName has been removed. I dont see anything like that on the wiki.

Changing the CF related bundle names and readding the PrefsFolderName doesnt work. Both clients still point to the same prefs.

I'm guessing this is fundamental to all 3 styles of running duplicate instances of Eve. Whether it be duplicating the client, running two via the command line or using the symbolic links all of them need separate prefs.

Please re-read the instructions carefully, and follow them step-by-step. You are trying to edit the wrong info.plist -- the one you see first is the one for the launcher. You need to dig a little deeper to find the embedded EVE Online client app and edit the info.plist that is contained inside that.

Many thanks, 2 of my 3 accts running now. One has all the crashing symptoms being shown elsewhere in this thread. I noticed that if I create a new prefs folder it starts so right now I'm restoring the folder pre-patch to see if it works after another profile update.

Basically the same problems as mentioned above - if not worse

EVE refused to work after first update. OK, no big prob - try again. Tried again: same. *argh

Private workaround: re-download complete client package. (Rationale: should be the new version/build). Alas, EVE-homepage was not reachable yesterday. *argh-argh

Tried today: yoohoo! Homepage online again. Started above-mentioned private workaround, i.e. complete client download. Started this at 11:00 GMT (which was dumb, see below). Download took 2+ hrs (my connection isn't the fastest), then started installation. Result? Client launcher doesn't start and tells me "No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure your internet connection is up and restart the launcher."

Tell you what? I checked: internet was up! (Of course it was, I downloaded the package minutes before). I restarted the launcher: response was: "No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure your internet connection is up and restart the launcher.

Just to be on the save side, I rechecked my connection (still up and running) and re-restarted the launcher. Response: "No connection could be made...

Last ditch: try the windows machine. Doing so, I learned that a new build has been released. Unnecessary to mention it wasn't the one that took me more than 2 hours to download. ARE YOU KIDDING? A new build a day after a (then-already-not-so-new) new build had been released

"Sloppy programming" would be the euphemism of the week

/me is not amused

Just for the records: brandnew MacBook Pro, i5, 4 GB RAM, Intel chipset, Lion -- (unnecessary to mention that everthing was fine before you guys messed it up)

On the surface this seems to be a minor problem, but I think it indicates a memory leak which can cause all sorts of havoc.

Go look at a CONCORD billboard from behind. I see colored static when on medium or high shader settings, and a rolling shadow of a female avatar when on low shader settings.

The view from in front is fine, the Pax add.

Just started playing Eve for the first time 3 days ago with the 21day trial, just purchased the full version right now. The game ran great on my 2011 MacBook Pro with 4gb.

Today I updated like everyone else and a popup on the login screen says "patched downloaded, click okay to install" I do so and the game quits and I see a brief file moving progress bar then nothing. Open the game again and it repeats.

Re-downloaded the entire latest client of 5.2gb and now I get "exception" No connection could be made to the content server. Please maker sure that your internet connection is up and restart the launcher." and yes I have a connection to the internet.

So thanks for this awesome update on my very first full game purchase. Now I regret spending $19 on this.

Yep. Same here.

Still not working despite the fact that I downloaded (again!!! - cf. my earlier post) the newest build. As a Mac user I'm used to easy installment of new programs, like download a dmg-file, unpack, drag into application folder and go. Not here, not with the oh-so-highly praised new launcher.

What did you guy do? Certainly not a thorough testing before releasing this crap. Sort this out. STAT! Preferrably doing a complete roll-back.

For the records: the crappy launcher thingy works on my windows machine ATM *crosses fingers*. NTL I wan't to have EVE running on my Mac.

Ok, so yesterday eve ran on my borrowed iMac albeit a bit slowly -- was able to get two clients running together but not without lag to the point of unusability. My macbook would download the patch happily but never install it. or something. I have posted the specs for both in earlier/other threads.

I tried reinstalling the entire client like 3 or 4 times on the macbook yesterday, deleting my eve library directories each time (wth, gonna have to redo settings anyway)... No joy. tried deleting common.ini buried deep in the app tree..

Got up today and tried updating the client again on the macbook and it didn't work. So another round of deleting and re-copying had me downloading 344784-350962.. Which failed. "Client update was unsuccessful"

Which is the same thing it said on the iMac a minute ago.

So I have 3 accounts i pay for that I can't play on any of the computers here. I'd be really sad if I couldn't play anymore because I can't mine enough to manufacture my way to 3 plexes...

I see in the general thread (god how i hate scouring webforums, hate it SO MUCH) that there is supposed to be a 1.06 version of the launcher. Both macs say they're running 1.04. Is that the problem? Cyrillic users and windows users got a frontpage post and/or a tweet for their workarounds, is there one for the mac that I missed in the eight million posts in the main crucible 1.5 feedback thread?

http://pastebin.com/1QqAUvJQ has the launcher log from the macbook, and http://pastebin.com/6XBZ0Z8v has some errors found in the syslog.

I'd really like to be reassured that the mac community here hasn't been forgotten... In the meantime I'm really glad I picked up mass effect 3 the other day.

I just tried it again after rebooting and making sure no browsers were open. No dice. Still showing the launcher as v. 1.04 front page says it's supposed to be 1.09. It also mentions a repair tool which apparently wasn't bothered with for the mac port either.

This time the patch number was slightly higher, but it didn't download it. I'd post more logs but it seems like no one is reading them.

By which I mean to say, with apologies to Roger Waters:
