1: installed updater fine.
2: Updating EVE on my main install failed.
3: Ran repair tool from launcher link, failed, ran a 2nd time, failed.
4: Thought "hmmm" I opened a link to an EVE web page from the launcher window and had it open the whole time... maybe I should shut it and try again.
5: Attempted install again and it performed flawlessly.
6: Repeated launcher and game install/update on an identical EVE installation on the same computer, perfect the first time.

Having a browser window open (using a link in the launcher) should have zero effect on all of this, it's just odd that the issue cleared up immediately after I closed it so I post this as food for thought.

Thanks for the info. People have mentioned the browser issue, but we're currently a bit stumped on why that would affect things. Out of curiosity, what browser are you running?

What about people who can't login to eve cause of 'The update has been downloaded. The client will now close and the update process begin. Press 'OK' to continue.' message loop? Launcher thinks that the game is updated but game is showing incompatible (protocol) and tries to updateitself, launches launcher and so on.
This is really frustrating, I can't login to any of my accounts since todays DT because of this!

mine just started working all by itself - see previous message
it may of had to do with coffee or some local effect or a petition but I now have to work :(

The launcher is having issues with having another launcher running with this build.

Updated sisi left the launcher running and then started to update TQ's launcher and it locked up.

Launcher verson 1.0.4 loaded and launched side by side yesterdayWhat?

Launcher worked slow but worked after closing both the launcher and sisi client.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

See you around the universe.

This looks like a candidate for the Repair Tool, if you haven't already run it.

I'm having this error when trying to patch:

I launch ExeFile.exe from bin folder (eve launcher and eve.exe aren't responding), download update, but when trying to run it above pasted error.

Win 7, 32.

Also, running repair.exe gives me error and sends to depths of hell:

Hi, please give the following a try:

1. Download http://cdn1.eveonline.com/350962/EVEOnlineLauncherInstaller.exe

2. Run the EVEOnlineLauncherInstaller on the folder where you have EVE Installed.

3. Start the eve.exe.

This tool will update the Launcher to the correct version. Please let us know if this makes you able to start the Launcher after applying this.

If you then get a new error when running the Launcher, please let us know what that error is.

Afterwards, try to disable the "Protocol filtering" in ESET NOD32 if you have that installed. If this resolves your problem, please contact the customer support for ESET and ask them send out an update to the protocol filtering or ask that they contact CCP Games via email security@ccpgames.com so that we can resolve this issue together.

HELP FOR MAC OSX installer Needed,

I downloaded the patch and the eve-online application stopped responding after the patching.
Is there some guidelines for us Mac users to how to clean, re-patch etc...
Now all seems dead, starting the app says:
"You can't open the application EVE Online because it may be damaged or incomplete."

Can some dev people chime in, I won't be able to re-download the 5GB installer. This is not possible
with the internet in the place where i live now. I could but it would take 2-3 days.

So after all these years you switch back to using a launcher...

Now can we have the old spinning EVE logo back? I miss it... Smile

I run 3 instances of EVE at times, so I have 3 install folders for EVE.

I did the update for the first one, it downloaded the initial data, and just before the launcher was supposed to do its thing, I got an error message saying "Operation system could not be found", seriously?

I closed whatever was open and started again, this time it did nothing, just an 'Incompatible protocol' message. So I cleared the cache and started again, but with the 2nd instance and it went through with no problems.

So yeah, clear your cache before you start the update, end clear it afterwards. All you need is for one instance to work, and then you just copy that instance over the others and you don't need to go through all that hassle trying to update again.

And of course, in the launcher Settings option, select to have it run only when updating.

Best practise would be to always keep an updated copy of the EVE install folder as a backup, if the update corrupts your installation beyond repair, you have a fresh copy to try again.

ALWAYS CLEAR YOUR CACHE BEFORE AND AFTER!
