frigates, destroyer, cruiser, battlecruiser, battleships with atleast 2 different races.

only with versatility you'll be save against the nerfbat.

You can't go wrong with Minmatar, they have won the Winmatar Trophy for 6 straight years.

That being said, the Tengu is literally the best sub-capital for PvE AND PvP. And it doesn't take **** for SP to fly, so if you like expensive ships go for it. Boring as **** to fly though.

For starting out in PVP you cant really go wrong with Canes, cheap and versatile, effective in both armour and shield configs.

All round and good fun.

Need more information.
For PVE (NPCs)
You want to do missions, ratting, anomalies, complexes, or wormholes?

For PVP
You want to PVP solo, small gang, or large fleet?
In low-sec, null-sec, or wormholes?

Your Navy Mega can get you into Incursions, if you like PvE.

But don't get fixated on any single ship, try to crystallize what you really want to do and start figuring out the ships that will suit that best.

Sometimes best ship is something small, sometimes a tanky BC, sometimes you need all the gank you can bring.

PvE: Wormholes, and missions

PvP: small group. and at times protecting 1-2miners when needed. in both in low-sec. but later on will be in large fleets

I feel like its almost better for me to start a new char. bc that way i could make a mini char, and then cross train into Amarr. im 2.5mil into my gal char atm. would it be better for me to restart as mini and then cross train into Amarr?

Restarting isn't a option.... the skills you get at the character creation are only worth about 24h of training.

Gallente to Minmatar will set you up for the Machariel down the road, which is a fantastic ship for pretty much everything. Plus, you're gunnery skills will apply. Also, since I believe you said you have 2.5m SP and are flying a Navy Mega, my bet is your support, gunnery, tank and fitting skills could all use some polish. Work on getting a full T2 fit (minus rigs, probably) for your Mega before trying something else. Battleships require a lot of skills to work, but they really shine once you're up to spec.

if you already trained into gunnery and gallente ships, and you are ok with using guns over missiles, going the machariel/hurricane route is really a good option. caldari ships do perform better in wormhole pve (namely drake/tengu), but aside from that, you are pretty much covered for any type of combat with the mach/cane combo.

P.S.: wolf/jaguar are also very nice pvp platforms and when you train up for t2 medium autocannons, you get the small ones anyway.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Train Machariel and Tengu, meaning Min/Gal then Caldari.
Or Tengu then Machariel, Caldari then Min/Gal.
Then Amarr for capitals!

Along the way you will get the ability to fly a truckload of awesome ships.

Check out that Mach action in Garmonation 9.
