Singularity managed to patch itself into tranquility

After opening up the singularity program and launching it, the new launcher came up and started patching it. Only when it finished it managed to somehow rewrite itself into tranquility, So instead of 1 tranquility and 1 singularity client, i now have 2 tranquility clients, with 2 different load screens, one with the new client, one without.. Can anyone explain to me how i managed to somehow screw this up?Shocked

You screwed it up by not realizing that singularity is running the current version of tranquility.

This was likely a deployment issue on our end, sorry for any inconvenience.

On your shortcut right click go to properties at the end of the target line add /server:87.237.38.50 from there it will correctly identify the server you want as Singularity instead of tranquility.

Thank you Evil Mercenary.

TL;DR

Before every major release, the client going to be released to Tranquility first undergoes a test run on Singularity, which (in combination with the fact that we hard code the default server into the client) results in the behavior you are experiencing. What Evil Mercenary describes results in the client using the server set in the command instead of using the hard coded default server.

You should be able to run a shortcut with /server:87.237.38.50 and redo the process again.

Tried this, but when i make the correction to th target line, i get an error, saying the target line is not valid.

BTW, the full installer is no longer working, unknown error while trying to download the installer package

Windows 7 64-bit

After a clean install of SiSi, the installer still patched to Tranquility.
Devs: Please fix this. I have confirmed that your update is updating to Live server.

If you are experiencing this, please follow these steps to solve the issue:

1. Install Singularity normal by creating a new folder called 'EVE Singularity' for example. Install into this folder.
2. Open eve.exe file inside the folder to launch the update. If this devs have not fixed this issue, this update might incorrectly update Singularity to Live Server, if it does this proceed to step 3.
3. Launch eve.exe. Does Tranquility start up? Close the program, go to your folder where Singularity is installed and right click eve.exe file and 'Create shortcut.' Name the shortcut "Eve - SiSi" for example.
4. Right-click the new shortcut and go to Properties. Next, find the top line which reads: Target: .... and then your folder
5. At the end of this line of text, there will be a quote ending in something like: eve.exe" Right after this quote you need to add the following text so that it looks like this: \eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50
On my computer it looks exactly like this: "F:\32-bit Programs\EVE Online Singularity\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50
but please note that your PC might use C:\ instead. The important part of this is where you put the last slash/server line.
6. Press OK to save settings and open your shortcut.

Enjoy

Sisi is currently at version 354441 TRANQUILITY.

I downloaded and installed a new sisi client and am trying to launch it but all I get are errors, which of course I can't copy/paste due to poor error reporting design.

They're all crc errors like this one:

Verification failed: 'C:\Program Files(x86)\CCP\Singularity\bin\Awesomium.dll', crc:11fc12a0 expected: 40b5533.

When I launch the repair tool, it tries to download a crc .dat for tranquility, version 353549 (I fixed that by adding --server=sisi for repair). start.ini says server=Tranquility (on a fresh sisi download!) and launching an eve.exe or launcher.exe shortcut with /server:87.237.38.50 or /server:Singularity does not help.

In short, the new launcher sucks, this sisi client build is broken, and I wish I still had a working sisilauncher.exe

Hi J'J'J'Jita,

Did you try my above guide to installing a clean version of Sisi? By clean, I do mean that you go into your 'Singularity' folder, and select all files, delete to recycle bin. Then follows the steps in the guide.

Let me know how you tried installing it, and if you tried what I mentioned above.

The patch for 1.4 worked for me, i.e. originally the release didn't work, but there was some patch to download, then use the repair tool and that got 1.4 to work. Currently 1.5 again doesn't work, and neither does the repair tool. The launcher freezes @ ~8% downloaded and then my computer goes slugish. It then leaves an unclosable Eve updater or something similar running that requires a reboot/log off to remove.

When I try running the launcher on a guest account it launches multiple instances of itself until it uses up all of my memory.

I use Sisi a few times every month and that launcher is fine, why is there a difference between the Sisi launcher and the Tranq launcher?

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80017&p=4 has some more of the issues I was having.

Ok, so today I opened Sisi, and saw the same launcher bugs that are now on Tranquility.

I have now moved my Eve install to mydocuments instead of Program files, these seemed to have fixed the issue. Only problem is that some Eve players don't know and shouldn't have to move an installed program from one location to another. Could you guys do some internal testing to try and recreate the issues we are facing, and then see if moving Eve install somewhere else, maybe documents, will fix the issue.

Basically I have multiple accounts on my computer and only the administrator can change program files, but up until crucible 1.4 this wasn't an issue. So please try multiple account levels and see if you have a similar issue. From Guest to Administrator, I believe that is the root of the Launcher issue introduced in 1.4.

Yes, still broken. I tried via the full sisi download _and_ exact wiki instructions of copying a new TQ install to new folder.

So, what hoops do i need to jump through currently to update my Sisi w/o fail patching to TQ? Please fix this.

Just add /server:87.237.38.50 to the end of the target line in your client shortcut properties, and let the launcher do its magic Smile
