14:28:58 Notify You cannot do that because you are not piloting the ship and do not have access to it.

wtf gives?

I am trying to contract a ship in system x to pilot y while I am in system z. Should be real easy no?

Systems x and z are in the same region?

Location should not matter with contracts. A pilot can initiate a contract from anywhere in EVE.

Yeah, that error message does sound odd.

I know you can't accept a contract that is in a different region, didn't know the reverse was possible.

Could it have been that system x had not loaded yet?

I've seen while traveling or logging in immediately after a downtime "Your character is located in system x which has not loaded yet" message, though the error timestamp doesn't seem to match up with DT.

Maybe system x was stuck?

You can make an private item exchange contract for anywhere in eve and collect it from anywhere in eve. And I had toons on in both regions and they were both loaded. I suspect the server is bugged.

To be clear, a pilot can create AND accept a contract ANYWHERE in EVE. The ability to interact with a contract is NOT location dependent.

Sounds like you are trying to create a private contract for a item that is in a corporate hanger ?

It would seem that way but it is actually in my personal hanger. I tried a courier contract but size limitations said no. Then I tried a corp contract and it set it up but for nothing. And it set it up in the system that the contractor was in not the system that the tiem was in.

However I could set up a contract for somethjing else in a different system

The error you stated normally deals with the ship you are piloting. I'd try hoping in and out of your current ship and maybe double check you aren't trying to contract the ship you are currently flying!

If all else fails you can always file a petition and have the GMs investigate the ship you are trying to contract.
