Buff mining Ship Defences?

Buffing mining ship defenses is not needed. They are mining ships meant for one purpose only: to mine as efficiently as possible. If you want to tank them, you do so at the expense of losing yield. It's a fair trade off. Besides, a well tanked Hulk can survive most ganks which happen to be mediocre. Only a few actually do succeed against a tanked Hulk. But most of the time, gankers go for barges and exhumers that have fitted anti-tank mods like cargo expanders and optimizers which makes them easy prey to ganks. If you're going to fit anti-tank mods or just strictly mining upgrades, avoid all 0.5-0.6 systems.

So no, there is no need to change mining barge or exhumers. What I do like to see is an iteration on the interactiveness of mining itself as it is currently a bot-infest profession that is boring.

This ignores the improvements PvP ships have enjoyed. Improvements not affecting the Hulk.

The Hulk was relevant when it was released, and became increasingly obsolete as the relationship between mining and PvP was ignored with each upgrade.

In short, PvP ships became more effective, but the Hulk and it's lot were not balanced to compensate.
