Speed Kills

If you follow my posts, you will most likely find that I adore flying fast ships. Not the kiting Tornado fleet or 100mn AB Tengus; been there, done that, boring. What my true passion is Assault Frigates, the little bastards are just too fun! Specifically, I have an affinity for the Jaguar, Harpy, Enyo and Hawk, Ishkur. Those particular ships coupled with a couple Scythes or a Kitsune or two and you have a mini fleet of doom on the cheap.

Last night we had all logged in at different times and had fleets out all over the place. Consequently we had a bunch of micro fleets of (2-4) vs. one small/med gang of (10-15). Nyah Inzaghi, Green Cannon and I decided to head out on a little mission of doom. We had an Enyo and two Harpies. We fitted tracking disruptors and we were committed to not engage anything with missiles. We set way point to G-0 to see if Flying Dangerous were active (they were not).

We received Intel that a small Agony Empire fleet was heading down in our direction. Our Intel did not include ship types so we had to be a bit cautious. We set way point to intercept but landed in the Art of War drag bubble sitting 100k off the gate. Normally I would be upset about landing in the bubble, but we discussed it for a few seconds and figured that this situation may be in our favor after all; at that range we could just warp off if they were all something crazy like Loki's or Tengu's. They held cloak.

We were in luck; they were in a similar fleet to ours, it consisted of a: Vengeance, Jaguar, Griffin, Atron and Taranis. They had the ECM advantage, but we had the added advantage of being grouped together and could concentrate firepower on whichever one they brought in first. The Jaguar came in first, we applied DPS, scrambled, and tracking disrupted him. He went down in less than 10 seconds, we called the Vengeance primary next. Pop, we had two of them down.

They now had three: Atron, Taranis and Griffin. Luckily for us the Griffin was AB fit and struggling to get in to jamming range; his poor propulsion choice is what ultimately cost them the fight. Even know we took out their two most expensive ships out, their two blaster boats were pounding away at Green Cannon. We did our best to Tracking disrupt but but ultimately lost a Green's Harpy. The two Gallente frigates hovered in structure for a few seconds and were eventually overcome by the superior firepower of our Harpy and Enyo.

As the fight was wound down, the Griffin finally finally lands on top of us just as his DPS went boom insuring his own demise. We managed a few pods, and killed 8 to our 1 loss. It truly was a good fight and the outcome could have been a lot worse for us especially if their Griffin had a MWD. To be honest, we could have easily had lost our entire fleet, the stars were aligning.

Kill Kill Kill

March ended with A4D having a record number of kills for a month this weekend; our previous record was in 2008 when we managed a very good 1800; a number which was nearly eclipsed last month when we scored 1781 kills (99Billion Isk). This month was a continuance of the previous month’s carnage; scoring over 2100 kills (102 Billion Isk). All and all it was a very productive month for pure volume of kills.

The ironic thing is contrary to popular belief; we are perhaps the most productive single corporation headquartered in the Curse region. We do it without being in an alliance, we do it without using capitals and for the most part we do it without being up the arse of any other corporation. All and all we are our own entity and we are proud for doing things the way we do them; simply put: kill them all by any means possible.

This weekend was a very roamy type of weekend, although some of our Eurpoean contingent scored more kills than our North American crew by not even leaving the confines of our home system, we traveled did manage to travel all over eve this weekend: Geminate, Detroid, Scalding Pass, Wicked Creek, Great Wildlands, Vale of the Silent, The Kalevala Expanse and even lowsec regions such as Mai and Genesis; even hit a few wormholes.

Some of our highlight kills involved a couple Proteus’s that we caught in Geminate, a Megathron Navy Issue that was playing station games in Mai, and a really fun 5 on 5 brawl in Genesis region. A low light engagement was when we tried to take on an obvious bait hot drop that ended up with us wiping our 11 man T1 Cruiser fleet not being able to break the enemy tanks on a gang being repaired by a triage carrier. It happens, it was still fun.

This month’s loot payout was 5.5 billion isk, 23 A4D members received 237 million isk a piece. Vacation starts next week, we don’t know where we are going, or who we will be fighting, but it should be a hoot.

A4D is living abroad

We don’t know where we are moving to or where we are going yet, but we are going to live abroad for a short while. We will always live in Curse but we are going to live abroad so as not to get stuck in a routine. If you are looking for a small (and I mean SMALL) gang pvp join our public channel and see if we are for you.

Suitcase Carriers are packed and ready to jump!

Although we managed 2100 kills this in March, the volume of kills wasn’t near as fun as the quality of fights we managed in December. Since the fights have dried up in Curse because of the Sov Shuffle that has taken place over the last few months, we decided to take a small vacation abroad.

We chose Syndicate as our first vacation destination and have managed no less than 10 fights on our first day. The vas amount of crap that has been thrown at us has been staggering and the amount of kills that we have generated has been off the charts. We are only here a short time but we may have to extend it a few days if these guys keep throwing ships at us.

First day 80 kills. Not bad considering.

First weekend in Syndicate

Overall we performed fairly well this weekend in Syndicate. I tend to grade out our performance like this. We won when we were supposed to win, we lost when we were supposed to lose and we won when it could have gone either way. Overall I would give our performance a B+.

We kicked the dog crap out no less than 6 tier 3 battle cruiser gangs on Saturday, and then turned around and derped an entire fleet into a HUGE battle cruiser gang on Sunday. The fights in Syndicate have been plentiful but the sheer numbers of the resident fleets are crazy pants. Overall I think we have performed admirably and look forward to seeing what the week brings.

They fell for our Vexor fleets but we are going to change it up starting this evening. Change is deadly.

Dormancy

I have been a little dormant on the recruiting front. Mostly because we moved to Syndicate for a couple weeks and I hadn’t had time to do anything. We moved back this weekend. Things are getting to back to normal; our quality of kills has already increased. Hope to see you on my overview soon.

Yesterday 4 of us were out looking for trouble and ran into Kraken.

It was a mixed fleet, mostly Serenety Prime, but with a sprinkling of other related corps. They had Rupture X7, Griffin, Heretic, Kestrel X2, Condor X2, and an Incursus, 14 in total. There were only 4 of us in system so we were going to have to ship up to take on 14.

We decided on tanky BCs, no logi, no ewar. Either logi or ewar would have given them too obvious a primary. Three jumped into Drakes, and I got into a Harbinger. (The killboard shows it slightly different because one person lost a ship and came back with an alt. The most we had on the field at once was 3 ) We got to the CL gate and our eyes said they are sitting on the other side of the gate. The command was given and we jumped into CL at the same time they jumped into KQ. Two members jump into KQ, we want them to aggress so the gate would not be an escape route.

They do and moments later Rolx does his best wicked witch of the west impersonation. "I am melting."
By the time I and the other guy on the CL side jump in we were 3 against 14. Not odds we go looking for but we like to fight. Our strategy was simple. Get the Griffin off the field, kill their Ruptures as fast as possible to reduce incoming damage.

The fight went pretty much as planned except for the part about them shooting back.

As the battle time line shows we pretty much worked the plan. We think Aramu is the FC so we took him out first. You will notice that he came back in a newb ship. I like an opponent better without an FC, so I deviated from the plan by putting my drones on him as soon as he arrived back on the field and killed him between Ruptures.

So how did we do. Pretty good. The battle overview shows a mishmash of fights, but the timeline isolates this battle pretty good. Since the link probably won't work we lost 4 all bcs and they lost 11 including all the ruptures the griffin and the Heretic.

There was nothing said but, good fight!, by all involved. This is PVP, the way A4D does it. We would have gladly taken that fight no matter what ships we were in theirs or ours. It really could have gone either way. Hats off to Kraken one of the few alliances who actually bring a fair fight and have the balls to be there at the end to see how it turns out.

So why did we win? As you see if your read our initial post, we are not a corp set up to teach you. We don't accept low sp candidates, and all must be to some extent battle tested. Their fleet had a skillful and experienced FC but he had some dull tools in the tool box. Players who are simply further behind in the learning curve than ours. But I suspect this was a great learning experience for them and it is by testing yourself in real battles you grow. I promise you it was fun no matter what side of the killboard you ended up on.

Contrast this to the next story on supposed PVP Corps who wouldn't know a fair fight if they ran from it, and they do!
So if you want to live in null, you want to PVP, you don't want to take place in the drama inducing aspects of the game that politics, and sov holding entail. If you want to experience the best small gang pvp Eve has to offer give us a look.

It is nice to be back in Curse.

I haven’t had a ton of time to play over the past two weeks but I managed to get on a few kill mails yesterday. It started off with a bang…mostly me blowing up. I made the error of listening to the Intel of one certain Attention Deficit Disordered member of A4D. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue but when warp to X gate turns quickly into oh, there are 15. That is when you know your ship is lost. Grrr!

So we reshipped and met up with them on the out gate with a similar sized fleet. We managed to kill an Arazu, Oneiros, Exequror before they de-agressed and jumped out. As they were running away, a 20 man frigate fleet jumped in. We managed to kill half their griffins and they also bugged out as well. So far we managed 6 or so kills and lost my Stabber Fleet Issue. That is Curse for you…sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

We reshipped into smaller ships with the plan on going on a small roam, when a streaming vid gang came through. They had 15 Cruisers with 4 Scythes to our 10 BC’s and Guardians. It became quickly apparent that they didn’t want to fight, so we offered to reship to smaller ships. They agreed and when we warped off to grab smaller ships, they ran; pathetic. Two jumps out, they were hot dropped by Phobia alliance and got smoked.

We were in a smaller group of around 7 T1 Cruisers and 3 Augorors so we decided to go to the other side of Curse. We ran into a Brick Squad group of around 15. We couldn’t manage to hold up to their DPS and lost the brawl. We would have broken even on the ISK war but one of our guys seemed to think his Muninn was a T1 Cruiser. If you don’t listen you lose…period. Ironically my ship was the only one that survived.

I have no soul.

This time the blog is dedicated to using logi.

Yes we use logi (way more than ECM), and we cheat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgrHMCD5S3Q

The last fight is actually the Battle Report Blythar posted above. I used it as a comparaison on what happens when you don't use logi.... XD

Also, logi or not on your fleet, on A4D you have one goal:

- Undock, go kill stuff.

Easy...
