The game looks sub-par ....how could they call this triple A?

As has been mentioned before, this is a development build they're showing. The game has evolved radically from where it was six months ago. I reserve judgment until players get some actual game time in during Fanfest.

Because its beta... they need to do bigger things like make sure the guts to the game work before they worry about graphics and shiny ****...

Still looking forward to it. Eurogamer mentions a Spring 2012 release - I think that means the next couple of months for you Northern Hemisphere types? Has anyone got any better date than that?

So you guys want 48 people fighting over planets to decide the fate of a 1000+ alliance?

Eve is full of entire star systems with between zero and three people in them. Forty eight people in one map is downright crowded.

Good video. I hope someone leaks some stuff when Beta is up and running. I'd like to have a look at the actual gameplay by gamers.

No, not really, I actually think not being on PC will benifit Dust in the long run. (Much less hackers being a big, big reason, much smaller console cost being another, and much higher player numbers being yet another).

Secondly, while the PS3 may not be as good graphicaly as high end gaming PCs, it's only about 1/10 to 1/5 of the price of one of those PCs, and still has better graphics than many, non top of the range PCs do.

It also makes sense to expand into different markets. Yes, the existing PC EVE base is a good, loyal customer base. But how many PC gamers have a console in the house? Or can easily afford one? And bringing in a new market seems sensible to me.

Ahhh, but the real problem is how will pilots protect themselves from these new immortals? Sure, they will be young and foolish, but for how long? Besides, who is making all that ammo, guns, and armor? I think those new clones bodies will be the hot ticket item of summer, since they will need a LOT of those… maybe if we could salvage the bodies. And dear CCP why am I not allowed to land my freed slaves on temperate planets and give them firearms? It seems reasonable, if ineffective, form of planet defense. What if I promise no walnuts?

I hope they don't add in logistics vehicles into DUST 514, it would look weird if 5 guys were all shooting one soldier in the face but he wasn't dying because there were faint green beams from 2 logistics vehicles on hills far away zipping around in circles at high speed.

As some of you have pointed out, this could be old footage but if so, i seems a little counter productive to use this sub-par looking footage to promote your game... I guess we will have to wait for the beta as that will show us exactly what the game looks like, minus a few texture improvements.

Graphics are not the be all and end all for me but the game in the video just showed a generic looking shooter with the added gimmick of it being connected in some way to EVE. Let's hope that Dust has some really interested gameplay and that it's not just Halo/Unreal tournament clone.

Personally i think something like this would have been a better direction for Dust: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/recon-class-ghost-recon/727398

With our feedback lets hope we can point them the right way about it. Best thing I can say is get into the beta, and give feedback were you can because we will shape this game, lets make it good.

well its not just 48 people

Its 48 people per front, and a front can easily be 20-30 tiles big. requiring an task force at each of them.

And if you only have 48 people on your side taking over a 200+ tile planet can be stressfull week long campaign almost. This is where having 200 people come in handy, or 500 or 1000.

I'd guess either here or fanfest.

What you really expect a 5km by 5km wide map to actually dictate the entire planet? Every tile only has room for so many facilities it wouldnt surprise me if it was just 1 facility per tile.

The entire place has to be brought down operationally, stragetically and tactically. Taking over a fire base in one tile allows your forces to call long range strikes. Destroying a comm node screws up hostile forces ability to must as easily. Blow up a ship yard on the ground would **** thier employers off. Taking out thier automated mining facilites would make it harder for them to deploy tanks. All the while the planetary commander is settuping fronts, allocating resources (which seems to be built on demand now instead of prefabricated but we dont know exactly yet) and making overall plans on how the entire planet should be conquered while squaring off against his rivals.

Its like playing risk cept there are 7000 game boards and the people you hire are the dice roll.

The best part is that dust 514 shouldnt suffer from mega-allaince itis. When was the last time you heard a shooter clan being over 100 members big?

Only thing that worries me graphics wise the usual console problem of lines in GUI-screens being terribly mushy when they should be sharp and crisp for readability.

Edit:
Remember america's army ? (2.0)
If DUST has even half of it's tactical elements this game will be an instant hit with added bonus of scaring AD/HD kiddies away.
