Having read the devblog, I have to say I'm still not too sure what they have in mind.

Right now I can fly Amarr command ships, I sometimes fly Gallente BC too. With the proposed change, would I be able to fly all command ships, in which case I'd have all cruiser at level V? Lovely for me, but I can't help but thinking that's a bit wrong. Or would I just get Amarr BC to V and Gallente BC to III because I only have Gallente cruiser to III, and the other to to level 0 because I can't fly their BCs yet?

I'm feeling a bit slow on the uptake, but his is looking like a big bag of mess to sort out

OMG. I dont want any non-amarr skills. Just reimburse enough skill points to cover all racial BC skills to lvl 5.

the most likely solution is:

If you have Racial Cruiser III+, then you get Racial Battlecruiser at the level of your current Battlecruisers skill.

So in your example you would get Amarr BC V and Gallente BC V, your Racial Cruiser skills would remain unchanged.
It would be smart to train Minmatar and Caldari Cruiser to III before the changes so you get all four Racial Battlecruiser skills at V though.

tl;dr to-do list before skill changes are implemented:

  • train Destroyers V
  • train Racial Frigate III for all races
  • train Battlecruisers V
  • train Racial Cruiser III for all races
  • keep an eye out for new devblogs/dev posts as all of this might still change.

SKILLS:




•Destroyer and Battlecruiser reimbursement: it has been said before, but allow us to repeat again, that we do not want to cut ships you can already fly. Thus, having BC skill at 5 would mean you get all four variations at 5.


•BS skill at IV for capitals: alright, there is good feedback on that. Point is to make the progression consistent by requiring a skill at 4 to train for the next, higher size class, and 5 for tech 2 ships. If we feel it becomes suddenly too easy to train for capitals, we can always compensate by adding that time back on one of the other, support skill prerequisites for them. Same reasoning applies for freighters. The point of this blog is to specifically discuss such matters before moving forward with them, and for this, you are welcome.
