If you are new and want to go pvp in nullsec, I have only one word of advice about fitting :

cheap.

And always fit a MWD, you'll need it to get out of bubbles or burn back to gates.

I got straight into 0.0 PvP a few weeks into the game, so maybe my perspective can help.

Tip #1: Improve your spelling and grammar. 0.0 residents tend to sometimes be a bit full of themselves, and determine whether you're a newbie (and thus deserving of help/tutoring/advice, etc) or a noob (and deserving of trolling). See this comic for reference.

Tip #2: use a cheap ship. You are going to die a lot. A lot, you hear me? A LOT. Try to have replacements on hand if possible, since the trip to get a new ship from hisec can be grueling.

Tip #3: fly with friends. Solo PvP in 0.0 requires a lot of skill points, guts, reflexes, money, and game knowledge/experience. With a gang, you may even end up not getting shot if there are more valuable things around. Plus, in a gang your lack of experience is compensated by people being able to help you not do anything too silly.

Tip #3a: always listen to your FC (fleet commander), even if the orders seem nonsensical sometimes. And, remember: align means align; warp means warp; jump means jump.

Tip #4: never warp directly from one gate to another if there are hostiles in system unless you want to land in a warp disruption bubble.

Tip #5: learn from your mistakes. Do not let a single fight (win or loss, regardless) go by without asking yourself "what could I have done better?"

If you insist on going solo PvP into 0.0 as a newbie, I recommend this Rifter fit:

Quote:
[Rifter, 0.0 crazy person]

125mm Light Gallium Machine Gun, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
125mm Light Gallium Machine Gun, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
125mm Light Gallium Machine Gun, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
Small 'Knave' Energy Drain

Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
'Langour' Drive Disruptor I

Damage Control I
Small Inefficient Armor Repair Unit
200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

Small Projectile Burst Aerator I
Small Projectile Collision Accelerator I
[Empty Rig slot]

Fast, up close, and personal. Total cost is about 1 mil ISK.

I second the vote for the rifter, cheap and dependable.

Beyond that Stabber, Hurricane when you have the SP and experience.

Active tanked Cyclone is great fun too
