EVE Gate- possible to log in from webOS browser?

Not sure if this is the right forum or not for this, but I couldn't find one specific for website-related problems (or I just missed it).

I've got an HP Touch tablet that I have been trying to log into EVE Gate from, but it always cycles back to the Login page no matter how many times I try. I've octuple-checked that I'm typing everything correctly, made sure autocorrect is turned off (it's been known to mess with login boxes by changing what you typed), all its software is up to date, etc.

I figure it's probably a known issue (at best) and is due to the way the webOS browser works, but it couldn't hurt to ask if there's anything I can try to get it working. I already use EVEMon on my laptop, but it's a LOT more convenient to just wake the tablet from sleep than it is to get the laptop out and boot every time I want to check on things- especially when I'm walking around at work Blink

Sounds pretty much like some cookie(s) being refused or deleted too fast. Maybe some kind of privacy settings? Only got an Android device and it works fine with its built-in WebKit based browser.

Unfortunately, the stock browser on WebOS is simply a POS (that's the non-EVE version, ie: Piece Of S###). It has a grand total of NINE items in its Preferences:

1- Setting the default Search engine
2- On/off sliders for 4 items: Popup blocking, Cookies, Flash, and Javascript
3- "Clear" buttons for 4 items: Bookmarks (why?), History, Cookies, and Cache.

No way of setting any kind of schedule for deleting anything, or how much to store before cycling things out to make room for new ones, or any security permissions. And the only other option I've been able to find for a browser app is "Advanced Browser" which is simply the same damn browser that someone modded to use tabs instead of opening new cards.

I wouldn't mind having to re-enter my login each visit if it was just that it was forgetting the login between sessions, but that's not the case. I can't even GET logged in because every time I enter my info, it brings up the Login form again. I never even get to Character selection.

I did have one ray of hope yesterday but it was quickly dimmed. I've been using Preware to tweak the tablet's performance some, and while browsing through the apps it had (many of which are NOT available in the regular HP Apps Store) I spotted a little gem called "EVE Skill Tracker."

The Good News: it was exactly what I'd been hoping for- an app designed to use the EVE API to pull your skill & training info so you could see how much time your queue had left and what skills you were training in it. *happy dance*

The Bad News: it hadn't been updated since 2009, and was not compatible with the new API format EVE is now using. *facepalm*

The Worse News: nobody's heard from the original programmer since that same 2009 update, and the one guy who took on trying to continue updating hasn't been heard from since he first said he'd give it a go *facedesk*

The Worst News: it DOES still work if you have a Legacy API key to give it, but I had deleted mine just a few days ago when I was getting EVEMon and EFT reinstalled after my 9-month absence and made the new keys *facesledgehammer*

I'll keep trying, but I'm beginning to think I'll be outta luck until next tax season when I might get enough refund to get myself another tablet that has a decent browser.

May want to try one of the Android builds they have for that Touchpad of yours, no need for another tab. I can't believe I missed the Touchpad Firesale. :grr:

Yeah, that was the other option I had been considering, but I haven't made up my mind yet. I'd REALLY like to see iOS get ported (though I know it'll never happen), since all our schools are getting iPads every time they get funding, and guess which member of the school system's Tech Department HASN'T been provided with one to practice on as a test bed?

Yep, me. The schmuck who's stuck having to figure out why they won't do whatever the teachers want.... Ah, the joys of government employment....

In the meantime, I DID find 3 iOS apps that will run on an old iPod Touch I had at the house, so I've got a pocket-monitor for my skill training until I decide what to do with the HP.

Until WebOS goes pretty much full Open Source (Which it looks like it might) then just toss an Android build on it. It has the hardware for it for sure.

Whenever you want you can always go back.
