Eve.exe (Safe Mode)

Just tried this in the hope that it only loaded core functionality in EVE like skill training, market etc. and not the graphics heavy features like avatars and WiS that requires a Shader Model 3 video card.

I was afraid I would auto clone jump into a Hulk in a 1.0 system or get transferred directly to Goonswarm, but I only received the error msg: "Your video card does not support Shader Model 3"

What does eve.exe (safe mode) do?

We really need a light client or web interface for the basic functionality. Any CSM candidates ready to fight for this?

In before "everyone must walk in prison cell".

CCP don't want us to opt out of CQ, and the light client we had was supposedly too useful, we're not allowed to do Excel in space, we must have pretty stuff that everyone turns off and zoom out from anyway.

AFK-cloaking in a system near you.

No no you got it wrong, Safe Mode, makes you safer from getting scammed, you are locked down in high-sec and given a buff to your hull to prevent suicide ganks... I think?

Safe mode actually puts you safely into your station where no one can harm you. Except for the evil MT monster that is known to raom them.

That is why safe mode requires shader model 3.

Lot of trolls here Blink Safe mode resets all your settings, graphic settings, cache, reset everything you change ingame and set it on "low" or "minimum". It is for able to start the game again, if you change something and you're not able to start the classic .exe anymore. Also it is debug system and last thing you try before repairing EVE Online or re-installation. So it is not "light" client, sorry Sad

It would be handy though, to have an 'EVE lite' client. Not for playing per se, but for accessing things like the market orders, skill changes, and various other stuff that needs to be kept on top of when you are away from your gaming rig.

Then again, maybe you can already do that and I don't know wtf I'm talking about.

Thank you.

@rodyas - your signature explained your post What?

@Mr Epeen - it would be a nice feature. How hard can it be (Top Gear quote) to put an Edit button on the skillsheet in EVE Gate Evil

I can't believe I missed a Chribba post. You're absolutely right, Safe Mode increases Intelligence attribute by 50, adds +500% to hull HP, increases scan resolution by 500% (enabling target lock on nasty ganker, so he shows up on own KB in red) Cry

Ok so I am pretty new to the corp but I am having a problem, maybe one of you seasoned vets can help me with it. There is something majorly wrong with my Eve client. I was ******* around in Curse flying my hero Rifter the other day and I was blown up as usual. Here's the thing, when I was blown up I wasn't running the regular client. I was actually running the Eve "Safe Mode" client. I don't understand how he was able to blow me up when I was in safe mode. So I realized that safe mode probably meant that you could get blown up but just not podded, but... I actually did get podded after he blew up my rifter. At first I thought that maybe I clicked the wrong link and I started Eve regularly so I exited out and tried again, this time I was 100% positive that I clicked the Eve "Safe Mode" icon. Maybe this is a newb question but does safe mode only work in high and low sec space but not in nul sec? Is there a simple fix without me having to completely reinstall?

Also let me tell you about how my ship took damage despite having my Invulnerability Field II turned on.

Buy a new graphics card. Seriously.

I got a $20 one off newegg that can run eve just fine,I'm sure you can find one if you look hard enough.

Yeah but when you're trying to run 8 accounts (soon 12) that doesn't really work.
