should not be as the ones who got banned are locked to their current account... unless you talk about about ebay or those who decided to stop botting and are selling before getting caught.

The bot bans are mostly all temporary and now those characters are flagged for botting so they can't do it anymore. Might as well sell the bot characters for the isk now.

It's other botters trying to ditch known bot characters in a hurry, so they can cash in to tide them over while they train up new ones.

From what I read, they lock those chars to the account so they can't be xfered to a new account (if they are caught). So, unless they sell the entire account illegally, they can't do ****.

Please note that ASCII art is not permitted in the forum signatures. Spitfire

ah yes this, thanks for clarifying. i believe the ones who got the bans are just a small portion and that there are multiple mission bots/ ratting bots out there that are still not detected.

You are mostly correct. Once banned for botting (even if a temp ban) the account is flagged and character transfers can no longer be done from that account.

So they win lots of isk after being caught for boting, all they need is to sell the bot characters in all freedom and restart boting Shocked

Edit: bot = permanent bann
Every one knows you cant hardware/software ban someone because it's far too easy to turn around: 10min mail addresses, dynamic IP, IP changer, MAC changer, pay-pal payments etc.

Just get rid of those char once and for all.

They cannot sell their characters via the Character Bazaar, so they would have to use out of game (EULA prohibited) methods.

C'mon everyone in this freaking game knows it very well how this character RL money sells shït happens, corp/alliance forums sell characters, ships, isk for real money and everyone knows this...
You have dozens of characters for sale with prices start at 50 to 2K euros in some EU forums and can go beyond this in talks on TS/Vent/Mumble/Skype.

Just biomass that crap, plain simple.

Considering they are botters do you think they care about the EULA?

This is were CCP have a massive failing.

By still allowing people to create untraceable accounts it means that the second they are caught once they will just sell there characters for RL money on one of the many many websites available and CCP will be none the wiser.

I have no doubt whatsoever that many who were caught will try that. CCP used to monitor character selling via the other "methods" and banned those accounts entirely, dunno' if that still happens or not.

I'm glad CCP are finally prohibiting character transfers immediately by flagging the entire account after the first time a botter is caught. Many have been begging them to do this for years.

If you are looking for a "one-strike and you can never play EVE again" system, I very much doubt CCP would (or could) ever be that heavy handed. And just as unauthorized character and ISK sales happen easily and frequently, so could evading tying an account to a real person. They will never 100% eliminate bots and RMT, the idea is to minimize it as much as possible by making it more and more difficult and unprofitable.

In a few weeks we'll see how effective CCP's renewed efforts to combat botting worked. Regardless, it has to always be an on-going process and not left to languish for most of a year between actions being taken.

Hey look!

A thread full of people who never go to the character bazaar forum posting opinions on stuff they know nothing about.

Tengu characters have been the mainstay of character bazaar for quite a while now. They are fast to make and easy to sell.

Stop reading stuff into every little thing, you bunch of tinfoil hat morons.

Since CCP is temp and then perma banning "ACCOUNTS" , and then permanently disabling the ability to transfer characters from those accounts, buying one from a 3rd party will become more and more problematic.

You buy it only to discover it is one violation away from perma ban (if not already perma banned), you can't transfer the characters on the account to a different one (ever), basically as this progresses the botting community begins to be heavily affected by internal scams. It begins to cannibalize itself. This has always been the danger of purchasing on a 3rd party site, you have no recourse if you are scammed.

Once the situation develops to the point where simply selling/purchasing accounts has a high probability of being difficult/pointless/unprofitable the number of bots in EVE should drop considerably. You don't have to eliminate bots, you simply have to make it so difficult to profitably use them it isn't worth it to try any more.

This will take a while to evolve, but it should be interesting to read the comments on the botting forums. Smile

I too want to be able to point to anything in game and say. "They are banning bots!"

"Lots of Tengu chars for sale..they banned bots!"

"I don't see many people in my area anymore, they banned bots..."

"That Corp I didn't like is gone, they banned bots..."

"Someone drew ponies...they banned bots......"

If online numbers haven't changed significantly, either they didn't ban many, or the bots in question just started new accounts.....Oops

Agree.
If Bots can have that deep of an Impact on EVE, that fast then CCP is in serious ****.
