Yesterday I ran the Dread Pirate Scarlet L4 mission to help gain some much needed sec status. I did the entire mission, killing a tad over 30m isk in bounties worth of pirates, warping in and out for about 2 hours trying to farm sec status. After a while i got bored, went to fetch my catalyst, and salvaged the wrecks as they started disappearing, confirming i was busy for about 2 hours, yet i didnt gain a single 0.01of my sec status. I fought against gist and serpentis pirates, frigs to battleships.

Any idea on whether it is a bug and should be petitioned, or a fault on my behalf. From what i gather from the forums the tactics is to kill as many bs rats in different systems every 15 minutes, then return to the first system and start over. if you stay in the same system apparently the ticker is on 20 minutes and not 15, and also the security level of the system influences how much sec gain you get. It is worked on the highest ranking rat you killed in the ticker's time, so if i killed 1 bs every 20 minutes i shouldve gotten roughly 6 gains of at least .02 each, or am i mistaken?

While I'm not really an expert on this, you didn't by any chance do those missions for an Interbus agent? IIRC you don't get security status gains from those, but I might be wrong.

Some mission rats just don't give sec for some reason. Rats in Worlds Collide are infamous for not giving sec. I suspect Scarlet rats are the same. Sec grinding sucks, I feel your pain.

Thanks, guys. It was a corporate police force agent and i have received quite a bit of sec status from previous missions i so it definitely wasn't the agent. I'm going with Kahz's explanation on it being a mission rat thing. Having to grind two toons up, one from -6.7 and one from -3.5, I'm just getting a bit fed up nearing the end. I'll just take note of missions like this so I dont waste my time again.

U get sec from bounty rats only, once every 20 mins and the best kill (highest bounty) will be added to your sec status.

Being in a gang will share the isk but only the last hit recives the standing adjustment.

Changing systems no longer resets the 20 minute timer.

All GM confirmed.

But you get the a boost from the best rat you shoot in each system right?

Eg. if I shoot a rat in one system and then immediately jump to 2 other systems shooting a rat in each I will get a sec status gain for 3 rats. Or do I have this wrong?

That is correct I often do this when i want to go for new supplies.

On topic of the mission itself I can certainly confirm that dread pirate scarlet gives no sec raise even though the rats do have bounties. I found this after my usual sec grind where I try to pull a mission in 4 adjacent systems and hop from system to system hitting a bs in each and moving on.

Dread pirate, Worlds collide, there is also another I can't recall right now (not in game) that I have added to my "No sec" avoid list. For a full list it might be worth asking the experts in missions and complexes I'm sure they'd know the ins and outs of each mission more intimately.
