Missioners and loot

When you guys salvage and loot and you just get tons and tons of random loot.. do you just melt it ALL down or do you go through it and find the loot that will actually sell for a decent price on the market? If you DO go through it and check, is the only way to do it just to select view market details on each and every mod?

I've just gotten back to missioning a bit and am not sure which one I should do.

I would love feedback on this too... I have been back a few months, and here's what I do:

  • Keep all meta 4's - just in case I wanna use them at some point.
  • Sell all Meta 1 through 3.
  • Melt everything else.

For the most part, I do the following:

Keep meta 4s (or the highest meta level an item has. For example, I think smartbombs only go to meta 2.)
Meta 3 turrets and launchers may be worth while, as may other selected modules, this you just learn from buying and selling.
Reprocess the rest.

I have an indy alt. He used the minerals and salvage to make items and rigs to sell for additional profit.

This is really kind of anal and probably doesn't work for everybody....

But, I actually created a spreadsheet with refining yields and market values such that when I look at a particular module I can see how many of each mineral it will net and what that total value is vs the actual market value of the item. Yes this was a huge amount of work to set up, but... now that I have that resource, it takes almost no time at all to look at each item before I throw it into the pile to be reprocessed.

Having that has helped greatly. I have found that even items that can be sold for hundreds of thousands of ISK in the market don't always yield more that way than if I reprocess the item. Kind of weird to actually refine an item worth 500k but it does happen.

The more I work with this though, the more I find that I don't need it all the time. Some items recur quite frequently and after a while you just get a feel for which items will always be reprocessed and which will be sold. I also have found that I have a hard time selling an item for less than I know it's worth. I have purposely reprocessed items just to keep from selling them at the bid side of the market when there is a 100,000 isk spread between bid and ask. That's just a little bullheaded but I've not lost that much...

In a couple days time, I will find out how 'worth' it was to me to train up scrapmetal processing. (less time that it took to get 8.0 corp standings but a really freaking long time :)

Cheers,

Just like the others have pointed out, keep the meta 4 items, and in some cases the meta 3. Just do a quick market checkup on items you're uncertain of, if you're not a trader you won't really have to keep up to date on how profitable everything is down to the last isk.

Don't mindlessly sell to buy orders, check for the best location to sell it, and depending on the buy/sell prices you might want to put up a sell order instead. If you can make good profit while undercutting a lot without ripping yourself off it might be worth doing that for a quick sale. In a lot of cases the ones with existing sell orders will buy you out to make a tiny profit of you, but doing pricewars generally takes too much time to be profitable for a mission runner.

Depending on if you do any industry yourself, you might want to keep the reprocessed minerals, for cheap ammo or the likes.

Yeah, I was about to mention it too. I tend to use that for clearing out my hanger. In general I tend to keep the meta4 stuff to use and let that sort through the rest of it and decide which station can I put it in to sell or refine. Since I started out more on the industrial side, I have the skills to refine the loot and then use it to build extra ships/ammo, which is handy, lol.

I save all Meta level 3 and 4 items, reprocess everything else.

Unless you sell up after every mission (why?) It should be fine when you do your end of day/week/month scrapstock checks.

When your gut instincts tell you something is wrong, trust them. When your heart tells you something is right, ignore it, check with your brain first. Accept nothing, challenge everything.

I am not familiar with invention and production chains, I just know that you need T1 stuff to upgrade it to T2, is that right? The meta lvl 1-4 is not used for this however, only the pure T1?

I always kept all large modules and known useful meta modules for selling and just reprocessed all stuff which was worth under 50k ISK. Guess I lost quite some ISK that way but I simply couldn't be bothered to check eveything.

There are a lot of ways to try and work out what the best reprocess items are, best items to sell at buys orders and which items to sell to sell orders, but this takes time. You also need to know where to sell the items, as prices vary across different regions.

Your options really are to -learn to do this yourself which will take a lot of time, time away from running missions

-Create your own spreadsheet on what items to sell/reprocess etc, then work out where to sell them

-If the price is right i can offer my spreadsheet which tells you which items to reprocess (based on your skills) which items to sell at buy order/sell orders and where the best hub is to sell them, all of which takes no more than 5 minutes to do. It also tells you individual prices of your loot, and an overall price, and total volume m3, and your potential profit.

if you are getting loot in the vicinity of 500m per week this spreadsheet makes the job very easy to do. Contact me if anyone is interested in getting the spreadsheet.

Half year or more, CPP modify all drop and drop rate, we got average less meta 1-3 loot but more meta 4 items, so all price of meta 4 drop down, you can notice some rare meta 4 item are very chaep than curple months ago like 10mn mwd , 1600mm rolled plates etc those items was 4-5mil isk worth on market curple monts ago now 1600mm rolled tungusted plate cost around 1.2mil isk, and top 10mn mwd is very cheap while it cost around 7mil isk curple months ago, or meta 4, 425mm rail gun was worth 12mil isk now like 3mil max im not sure but arount this price.

Well some meta lvl 4 are still worth to sell on martet, example, arbarest heavy missile launcher, meta 4 target painter, medium energy neutralizer, meta 4 dampener etc, but in fact you can even reproces 1600mm rolled plates, all meta 4 item generate more mineral than lower meta lvl, so while you reproces 1600mm roled you got 1.x mil isk worth in minerals and this value is compared to sell orders or even better.

If it bleed we can kill it.

does the same as the other program but could be a lot more usefull if you are an industrialist.

A quick tip for those who don't do it already:

Open your loot can/station container/whatever, and change the view to a list. Then r-click the column names and add the column for Meta level.

You can then quickly sort items by Meta and group move what you want to keep to another can.

I reprocess it all without looking.

When you are missioning, one should mission. Spending time looking at crap is not productive.

Basically, follow these rules:

1) Don't waste time on crap

2) It's all crap
