Hello guys,

Three days into Trial and I'm currently enjoying Eve atm, My friend is slowly introducing the game mechanics to me and I have begun to realize I wont be flying that shiny Hurricane with decent Fits anytime soon so my current Rifter has started to grow on me. As me and my friend are mainly focused on PvP I'm looking to get some hands on exp with my rifter but can't seem to find anything to kill and he can't help me as he is outlawed ATM and trying to lose his status, So I decided to head out to a random 0.4 system and scan - And boy did it take me ages to find any ship and when I finally did manage to get in close and scramble a ship I learned a valuable lesson I won't be repeating since it cost be about 70mill in in implants and fittings lost. If you are in a Rifter don't attack a T2 Frigate.Blink

So I guess what I'm here to ask is what system I can gank unsuspecting miners or ships equal or close to my Rifters stats to get some exp while my core skills train?

There are no set systems as everyone moves around and anyone that is worth killing stays in high sec. Sadly 1 on 1 in a rifter you wont find much that won't kill you. Best thing you can do is fly with your friend. Since he's an outlaw he should ve stuck in low sec anyway right? =D

If you guys don't find anything then just try ratting or killing stuff in anomalies, if no one shows up, then you made ISK, if they do then you have a target, win-win =D

You could try canflipping (google it). Otherwise, I agree with Xercodo - go to lowsec, do some random stuff and see what comes your way. Try and learn something from every engagement.

Prior to this you should however learn about jumpclones and how not to lose your pod / implants. Easy enough stuff if you do some reading / googling.

Good luck!

If you're really going for the pure Shooting Shipz style, you generally hit a serious limit in ISK income to replace your losses. Unless your friend is willing to spring in a lot to replace ship losses.

Since you're still in trial, my suggestion would be to simply trawl lowsec, hunting for belt rats. They give ISK and the odd module, counter your secstatus loss if you do manage to shoot something, and flying around in a non-cloakie rifter will make running gate camps Interesting.

You will lose ships a *lot* , but Darwin states that you will at least learn to get your pod out when you blow up. when, not if ...P

Highsec isn't "Safe".  Neither is it a playground for bullies and bottomfeeders. So stop complaining and start playing the game already.

There are hotspots in Low sec you can find fights in T1 frigates.

Google Brutor Bullfighter for a couple great solo roaming guides and other pirate blogs that can give you some inspiration.

I've been asked for 1v1's in FW space before as well, so don't be shy about hanging out in local and simply asking.

T2 frigates can be tough to crack in a low-skill T1 especially now, but you can often convince someone to ship down for you if your persistent.

Your not the only one out there trying to enjoy their T1's I assure you.

Sounds like most of your investment lost was in the pod.

In losec, barring server lag, getting your pod to safety is usually not that difficult with practice. Make yourself an overview tab with a setting that shows only planets. Practice quickly switching to that overview tab, selecting a planet at random and spamming warp. Then next time when your ship is about to explode, you can use that procedure to get your pod out safely - your ship explodes, but you were already spamming warp and your pod goes into warp instantly.

You can include moons on that tab as well and warp to them to further confuse hostiles who might be trying to chase you, but be aware that players will have starbase installations at some losec moons, which will try to shoot your pod on sight. Starbase towers have abysmally slow target-lock times though, so if you land on grid with a tower you can just choose another random moon from your tab and warp away again before it targets you.

POS doesn't shoot pods. Only thing that shoot at pods are other players, so a POS will never shoot a pod unless an actual player take control over its guns.

You know what eats assault ships for breakfast and is still economical to use?

Thrasher. Especially now that destroyers are unfucked.

Low sec doesn't have huge populations these days. God help you if you run into a FW blob.

Just keep searching and eventually you'll catch the hauler or miner unawares.

Very much this. If you come out to Heild (warp straight through Bosena and keep your fingers crossed) there'll usually be someone around who'll agree to a Rifter 1v1 if you ask.

Fair warning: don't hang about next to a planet, the sun or anything else that can be warped to while you're asking.
