For a lot of current players, the queue existing mad the game playable, but only so long as they had access at need on a daily basis, was it meeting all their needs.

I think this is your core misconception. The skill queue doesn't require you to log on daily to keep your skills training, it allows you to log on any time within 24h before your current skill ends to add something else in.

...longish thing about planning skills to fill in for absences...

So please stop misconstruing the skill queue as limiting people who can't log on daily, look at it as enabling people who have lives to keep their skills training all the time (which is what it really is).

You may have missed this part, as you did exactly what I anticipated.

If we wanted to play second best, we could log into other games and achieve that.

The current skill queue only meets it's ultimate goal if players are able to log in within that 24 hour window before it ends. Needing to set alternative lengthy skills is a compromise only forced as an option to players who cannot do this reliably.

Noone loses anything if players are always able to train the skills they are permitted. Anything else is metagaming beyond what is useful and practical.

we already have that ... and we get a certain amount of SP per hour as determined by the following

60 * [primary attribute] + 30 * [secondary attribute]

(provided that we've chosen a skill with which to apply said SP) Bear

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

True but with my idea we could put an end to new players complaining about not being able to catch up! They'll just have give their monthly salary to CPP for one/a few months depenting on income! Lol

EDIT: Just think about it! We'd be seing 2 week old players with failfit titans ratting in low-sec! (I'm sure there's someone that rich/stupid) Pirate

while the tears would admittedly be delicious ... can the forums handle them?
