Hello

Need some help with basic R&D Smile
Currently working security for Lai dai corporation. This in order to get my standings up. As i understand i need 5.0 standings
to start research with an agent(Lvl4). I`ve tried to read various guides, but the very basics isnt that much talked about.

Guess thats what i am wondering about, how to start a research after i get enough standings.
Do i have to start a mission? or just press a research button? If i need to start a mission what kind of ship/s would i need
to complete the mission.

Also i think i have all the skills? but im guessing i need another skill when i choose exactly what to research?
I guess different agents have different fields in research?
Its my understanding i get datacores with research?
that i can either sell or use in invention.

Invention will probably be a bit down the road for now Smile

Hope someone can help me, thanks

You start the research by talking to the agent (just like mission agents). You get the option to start the research and a mission.

You don't have to do any missions. The research agent gives one mission each day max. The mission will give you extra research points.

You need the appropriate science skill to be able to start the research with an agent. Agents have two different research paths each to choose from.

You can buy datacores with the accumulated reseach points.

look at eve-agents.com to find your agent.

^^ This.

With a minor qualification - agents have at least two research paths each to chose from, and before you can start the research you need to have some level of skill in that research path. (how much is an object of some debate)

Wait for one down time to pass before talking to the agent, after getting the standings. And make sure you have at least one of the sciences they do.

Otherwise they'll probably tell you to go away.

Woo! CSM XI!

Ok

First 3 research agents are now researching for me :) they are only level 2 & 3, since i dont have 5.0 standings yet.
Anyway, it is working perfect, and i am soon ready for level 4 agents.

Thx a bunch

Make sure when you upgrade to the L4 agents you use any R&D points you accumulated with the lower level agents because once they stop researching for you all points are lost.

Yeah, ive noticed that. Problem was that i dint have enough rp points yet. So i couldnt trade for datacores. So im guessing its not too much isk that would be lost :)
