You don't need special areas, you just need a more fluid aggression mechanic, specially in highsec. Wars can be consensual, why cant fleet vs fleet be so as well without all the paperwork and can juggling. (unanimous fleet vote tool and both sides turn red)
Just a new mechanic that wont cut up space but to add more options. People are still free to disco the party like a streaker in a tennis game.

proly dumbest idea ever i dont know but is there a way that it could be implemented...

for example like 10v10 battles...maybe the winning team get isk reward or something else CCP can think of...
it could have classes like frigate class pvp arena or etc.

for new pilots wanting to get a pvp fix it could perhaps give them their little thrill of eve. and perhaps pilots that wanna pvp but dont got too much time to go hunting....i dont know lol

Why do you want this over, perhaps, organising your own tournament or simply playing EVE for the space-combat aspects of it?

I still can't believe that people want to have fair fights... If your fighting fair then your intel is bad and you don't have an advantage...

The old rule of gunfights comes into play... Bring a big gun, invite your friends, make sure they bring guns...

And I think that arenas just ruins the whole, "anything, anywhere, anytime" aspect of EVE, there would be no scouting, no hunts, no chase, no sphincter clenching moment when your out gunned and your wishing your warp faster, no moments of triumph as you pin that gang under the guns of your larger fleet...

There is no such thing as a fair fight...

If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage.

I came up with that idea after the last great alliance tournament.

Probably many others came up with this before I did.

Were like 2:1 of the people against it, though it would be no change to what pvp is today.

People fear arena pvp could kill all other pvp.

People like to outblob others.

Whatever, this is not getting anywhere.

Just like this, here:

They really think there would be no other pvp if there would be arenas! o.O

What about Sov?
What about Tech?
What about a little roam?
What about gate camps?
What about busting gate camps?

Why oh why do people think that arenas whould kill all this? This is not WoW!

There already are plenty of venues for the type of PVP combat that you seem to want:

1. Most alliances hold in house tournaments, usually with some pretty decent prizes.
2. There are several inter-alliance tournaments held frequently, for example the Syndicate Alliance Tournament which was just held a few weeks ago.
3. EVE-Radio holds a tournament type event about every other day.
4. Frigate ball is alive and well in most newbie training corps last time I looked.
5. If none of these options appeal to you, then all it takes is a little effort on your part to get something new organized.

The entire New Eden cluster is an arena. Everytime you undock your ship, buy or sell anything on the market or produce something, you are engaging in PvP.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

Right now the easiest place to set up arena style contests is on the test server Sisi. If you do it in a system outside the non-consensual PvP system, then only those who do consent can fight ( doing otherwise gets you perma-banned from Sisi). Just gather your 2 teams in some random 0.0 system, ask everyone who consents to the fight to x up in local, take a screen shot for documentation, and start the fight.

This has been true for Sisi for years, yet somehow it has not marginalized PvP on TQ.

Arenas do not, and will never fit in the sandbox.

Tell me more about your sandbox sir.

Cause it's different than mine.

Having 'sanctioned' arena matches does fit in a sandbox, it's just most people think it means the end of small gang etc etc etc...

I personally would love it because it would be a way for us to have bookies in EVE.

to add yet, another level to the sandbox.

Sisi is nice ... but I think the reason that nearly no one plays on it is because there's no feeling that anything you do *matters*.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Biggest thing for most players is the discrepancies between their skills. For those from WoW, it's like a lvl 80 taking on a lvl 85 character ... not much fun Blink

Right.

Apart from skills and stats don't exactly scale quite like that, do they?

I mean sure, if you're in a T1 fit Thorax trying to stand up to my Hurricane, or a Drake trying to win a race of tank and spank again my faction fit Bhaalgorn then you are going to lose.

But if you took a Celestis (5m to fit and fly) and your friend in a Rupture (8m to fit and fly) with about 200ksp each, it'd take time, but catch me off a gate or station and I wouldn't stand a chance.

And tell me, in WoW can 2 level 20's take on the equivalent of a level 85 in full purple gear?

Nope?

It's about flying smart, and realising that "-62.5% to targeting range" is "-62.5% to targeting range" whether you have been playing for a day or a decade.

We already have a PvP arena...it is called New Eden. Go out there and get your PEW on!

Which may be why a PvP area on TQ would not kill real PvP on TQ. "Real" PvP is PvP that causes lasting changes. That would be the draw that keeps it going even if we had arenas.
