I believe that CCP Dev was not fired

Icelandic employment law prevented this.

EDIT: Actually these days, finding out that there was still a dev in EVE who cared enough about playing to cheat would probably be received as good news...

QFTMFW

Sure the dev's do....would like some proof that managment does however.

again though, they CANT do that. Partly out of pride, they have a lot of hubris, too much to not "stay the course" and admit theyre wrong, but also giving in to a move like this brings up the idea of negotiating with terrorists. Whats to stop you from applying this pressure every time hey make a decision you dont like?

If you think of your customers as terrorists, then you're in the wrong business.

CCP is a business. If they want our money, they have to provide a service. If the customers aren't happy with the service they can either:
a) leave immediately.
b) complain in the hopes of getting problems fixed, i.e. give CCP a chance before leaving.

The things said in the Mittani interview were culled from the forum posts of many players. The CSM isn't staging a coup, they're giving an organized voice to the mass of dissatisfied customers. Option B is still on the table, but folks are getting more vocal about switching to option A, so the CSM is getting more vocal.

As for the CSM applying pressure to future unpopular decisions, that can only work if the CSM has the noticeable/popular support of the player base. This is one of the rare times when it's possible to herd cats successfully.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.
