discover what sector/area/location a player is situated in without actually asking them?

using wow as an example you could click on a players portrait and it would tel you where they were within the game, can this be done in eve?

am pretty sure i already know the answer will be NO, would just prefer some confirmation please
thanks

You can use locator agents but it requires standings, and some ISK.

Yeeee!

Check out the EVE Agent app. Sort by the Locator field.

Locator field means Locator agents, NPC agents who when paid isk and you have the right standings for will give you the location of any player in game down to their exact system. Level 1 and 2 agents are limited in their range whereas Level 3 and 4 agents having substantial range (with level 4 locator agents the most useful). This allows you to find anyone without them ever knowing. Of course they can change system after you locate them, so it is not always accurate, plus you can only run a search so many times in a day.

The app above will give you all of the locator agent's locations.

Might not be the option for you at this moment but any CEO or Director in a corp can see in what system their members are located and actually also what ship the pilot is in at that moment.

Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Help channel: Help chat - Reloaded

Public roams channels: RvB Ganked / Redemption Road / Spectre Fleet / Bombers bar / The Content Club

Holly s***! I didn't know about that... makes me all the more paranoid now...

I suppose it only works in k-space though, well, not like it would give a hell of a track knowing I'm in J428964 anyway... *shrugs*

Yes, it only works in k-space. But seriously, even if a ocator agent could find you in w- , you run into the problem of actually finding a route there..

That being said, locators take time to find you (bloody chairwarming bureaucrats..X) , so you won't get an immedeate answer.
It's also a good idea to have a general idea where someone is hanging out if you wish to find them efficiently. Locators do have their limitations. And using them extensively is expensive.

They *are* one of the most useful tools for primary intel when you're wardecced in high though.

Highsec isn't "Safe".  Neither is it a playground for bullies and bottomfeeders. So stop complaining and start playing the game already.

By the time you get a response from an agent, it is likely that the person you are looking for has moved to somewhere else. If they haven't, it probably means that are snuggly in the middle of their alliance territory where you will not reach them.

When you try to locate someone in WH space the agent will give you a message saying something like "im sorry that person is out of my reach". So no,no one can find out what WH your in but now they know that you operate in WH's so its easy enough to keep running locators on you/your corp members and try to follow you to find your WH.

It takes about 5 minutes for an agent to find someone, and price will change a bit depending on how close they are (think max is 250k). Im also fairly sure that lower level agents will have a limited reach so they wont be able to find someone in a different region as an example. There is also a cd between each time you use the same agent. This tiem varies but i think its about 20 minutes. During this time the agent will just say "im busy can you come back later". You will still be able to run missions tho.

The best way to do it is to place your self in asystem/station with several locator agents so that you can switch between them as needed,or just have friends that have locator agents help you out.
