Well this is a negative blow to the Goon Party's prestige. It's image projection or branding, as it were. Said projection of image seeming to be: Vile. Larcenous. Profane. Arrogant. Derisory. Creative (in terms of media productions). Elite. Moneyed. But here we see the brand image taking a smack. To wit, evidence is presented of Goons botting away, like anybody else.
Like anybody else who needs isk -a lot of isk- and doesn't care how he gets it. Take Moneyed out of the brand image.
Like anybody in a newly-industrialized country running an organized bot operation. Also take Elite out of the brand image.

So basically, not only does the "games normal culture of honor" not apply to the Goons in-game, it doesnt really apply to the Goons when it comes to the question of cheating either. Its up to CCP to catch them if they can. This is the culture that permeates the SA community, and I am afraid you just have to deal with it.

I see your point. But being 'outright bastards to everyone else in EVE' is one thing. Getting away with it is could even be considered commendable. You know, make enemies, be despicable, but you're tough enough that nobody can do much about it. But going outside the framework of the game and making isk (a resource for power) via bot mining-- that's another thing. Kind of puts a hole in the "I earned the right to be obnoxious" thing.

It cuts deeper than that. The Mittani divides the EVE Community into "EVE born" and (outside) "community born", with Goons beeng an example of the latter originating from the somthing aweful community. He then goes on to praise how "community born" EVE players are freed form the shackles the "EVE born" players have to endure to gain accept into the greater EVE community (no scams, no corp thefts etc), i.e. free to be "absolute bastards" to other EVE players.

But there is one more important aspect to it that he does not mention directly. Because a community born EVE player draws his identity from outside of EVE, there is no real incentive to ensure that EVE succeeds. If EVE fails, they will just move on to play other games as a community. So cheating isnt really a big deal for them, as long as it serves the needs of their community. As a "EVE-born" EVE player you can thus rage all you want against cheating going on, but to be perfectly honest with you, they are not gonna care one tiny little bit.

No worries, it's actually a pleasure. We're not really speaking to Goons anyway. You guys don't really fight back, you usually just respond with 4-8 words saying basically 'har har har, I know you are-- what about me?' That's quite a leap, going from Goons don't do CCP's policing for them or report other Goons, to Goons are all involved in some bot conspiracy. Oh, of course you don't actually say that, but it's the conclusion you want to lead the reader to make as if it were some kind of established fact and not the wild conjecture that it actually is.

Hmm, all those botter bannings, and yet NPC kills in Deklein systems haven't really dropped. Is CCP complicit in Goons' botting, or was there just not really any botting to begin with? If you're certain it's the former then I have a long form Kenyan birth certificate to sell you and if you act now I'll throw in a grassy knoll at no additional charge.

Goons if I may. While forum sillyness is fun I am requesting a response on that allegation of goons not reporting other goons.

Can you provide the full story on that and how things have changed?

Most of them have been banned.

I was able to infiltrate in gs. It seems some billions still give you possibilities.

I have reported about 50 bots in deklein region. Haven't seen them online since then.

I guess next time goonswarm announces a hulkagedddon, they tell their members to turn of their bots.


And ofcourse for 10 billion I will let someone in GS know which corp arranged my access.
