I don't know if the nav skills are needed, and I don't know anything about the armor/shield compensation skills. I haven't used this char for much but I'd like him to be pretty close to a perfect logi pilot for any fleet/site.

Help would be greatly appreciated! My main question is which of these skills are necessary vs unnecessary for the intended task?

Optional: Repair Drones 5 and related drone skills. Handy for repping what your ship can't. Example: armor drones in a Basilisk, and shield drones in a Guardian.

Improve your agility for faster manoeuvring: Spaceship Command 5 & Evasive Maneuvering 5.

But yeah, basically please make sure the tail end of those skills are OK to be at the bottom of the list! That's my major problem here, just making sure that this plan is good for what I'm trying to do. Obviously going oneiros / scimi is a bit dubious in terms of marginal utility (since I can already go as the other type of logi), so that's not a commitment or anything, but just checking. Likewise, I might choose the guardian as the first priority over the Basi due to social reasons.

wouldnt bother with the compensation skills to 5 for a long time. specially not the shield ones. if you do incursions you wont sit at zero cap so the shield compensations wont do anything.

You won't need Multitasking or Targeting 5 right away, you can get away without having those if you use your watch list unless you're running Assaults/HQ sites.

I'd add Wing Commander 3 for FCing VG and Assaults. You won't be able to Logi well and FC.

It looks like you could get into a Basilisk faster with more support skills, but you seem to be set on a Guardian. Due to the competitiveness either is a fine choice. I'd honestly look at a Scimitar, especially if you get Logi 5. They are great for incursions and pvp.

Why not just throw him a link to the previous posts about this and then build on the knowledge from there? They are probably easier to find then most of the standard write ups above this post.

Afterburner V is also debatable.

It doesn't save you that much capacitor, and has drawbacks when using dual prop setups and attempting to warp faster by shutting it off. The certificates suggest you need it to be elite though.

Doesn't matter race, age in months, hull flown, purpose, anything.

Train this to 5. Real soon. Doesn't matter if you want to fly Logistics, be a miner, or do anything else that actually involves undocking in a spaceship. Train this to 5.

This is why I like one RS in shield fleets as anchor. Let them bring the armor drones when your in a shield group so your logi can keep to dps drones or shield rep drones. They can bring some mining drones too just incase a bit of ore is needed.
