It isn't vote rigging. He has every right to campaign his own alliance to vote for him. Unfortunately he also leads a very large alliance. He will likely win. He will also likely get the vote of many of his pet alliances as well. TNT, TEST, etc...that is how it works in real life too. People don't vote with their brains. I am sure a lot of people voted for Obama because he is black and for no other reason than that. It happens. Fact of life. Get a big group of sheep that blindly follow any moron of a ape that comes along and you get pretty much whatever you want out of life.

We’re not going to **** with this election cycle by vilifying a particular candidate like we did last year with Trebor; feel free to **** up Jita Park freely and spread it around evenly. We’re going to be paying out isk to artists for ~excellent~ campaign posters; each solid poster will net the artist 500m. This does not mean you can poop on a page and get money, we’re talking Stalhregen-level propaganda. If you have something good, post it in this thread.

No this is not how democracy works, MPS dont have any attachment to a massive group of voters in RL. Stop talking rubbish...

Does your MP come around to your house have a drink? Do you go out and party with him, Do you go drive your car together? are you best buddies? Does he give you a back hander for some votes? Does he give you any type of replacement program?

Of course he doesnt, but i bet if he did you would vote for him..wouldnt you... but if this was RL then that would be err classed as vote rigging or manipulating votes now would it..

you cannot compare real life politics and elections to a bloody space game.. its totally totally different, especially morally

There is no organisation or campaining need at all, these are guaranteed votes.. please shut up

In the last year I've had interesting RL conversations with my own MP (a former cabinet member), MPs from two neighbouring constituencies (one of whom was a serving cabinet member at the time), several local councillors and the national leader of a party. And no, none of them were asking me for my vote.

I always thought that I was just getting involved in politics, but no, apparently I'm corrupt.

So you are saying having YOUR OWN alliance voting for you in hundreds is not vote rigging?
Let's see…

Electorate manipulation? No.
Gerrymandering? No.
Manipulation of demography? No.
Disenfranchisement? No.
Intimidation? Maybe, but it doesn't seem like it, and in particular, it doesn't seem to be needed.
Vote buying? Again, maybe, but doesn't seem necessary.
Misinformation? Definitely not — he's quite clear about what's going on.
Ballot stuffing? Actually, I've heard this was done, but it has nothing to do with having your own alliance voting for you…
Misrecording of votes? Nope.
Misuse of proxy votes? No.
Destruction or invalidation of ballots? No.

So no, no rigging.

What he's doing is simply telling his electorate to vote (presumably for him).

It's no different than the party leader telling the party to vote for the party and/or its candidate. Having a party is not vote rigging — it's political organisation, which is not just legal but often actively and even strongly encouraged in most systems.

in regard of terminology and definition I agree to 100% with you, the only problem I have:

EVE IS A DEMOCRACY ??????

darn I knew I missed something Shocked

p.s. come on people, relax, this is a game, and calling a campaign to get on a board to be able to make suggestions or give advise a fraud is a little bit over the top, or? - nice sentence or as you can see english is not my native language Lol

Seriously, don't take me serious, I MEAN IT...seriously

"dodgy election mechanics?"

How exactly is asking your constituents to vote for you, slamming your opponents, and paying isk for advertising/propaganda "dodgy?" This is the definition of politics, everywhere, and if you believe that this is stuff that would only be done by a single organization in an internet spaceship world, you're really stupid.

In my country the largest two political parties have each 0.7-0.8% of the total eligible voters as members.

At CSM 6 elections about 2.2% of eligible voters voted for "official" goon candidates (The Mittani and Vile Rat).

Don't see the big deal.

So I get banned for two months for posting "HTFU LOL LOL GO BACK TO WOW I DINT EVEN READ THE OPPPPP", but this next-level badposting isn't even locked?

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

So far, I think the comments from the astute electorate/commentators here have missed a few points.

1) Mr. Mittani and his Goon Party apparently have a breach in their campaign and/or party communications apparatus. That's an embarrassment for any candidate, especially one who holds himself out as the faultless dictator of a elite organization of whup-butt tear collectors. I hope Mr. Mittani hasn't been using '12345' as his password like the president of Syria did. (Little joke there). In any event, I wouldn't want to be one of the goons who was responsible for counter-spy stuff.

2) Mr. Mittani promised 500mil isk for each piece of good propaganda submitted. That's quite a pile of do-re-mi. But he failed to explain the source of the funds. Will the payment come from his personal account, or from the Goons' alliance funds? Maybe Goons don't care whether their dictator spends their collective money on his personal campaign or not. Most taxpaying people would, though.

3a) Mr. Mittani's message implies that his being elected to the CSM is a group goal for the Goons. Not his own personal goal. In other words, that his being elected will benefit the Goons. That looks like pork barrel politics.*

3b) Alternately, the message could be interpreted as, "Goons, I'm running for office and I'm your dictator.
Therefore what's good for me is what you want, by assumption and by default. Therefore by assumption you are all just unthinking followers." That hurts the image of the individual members as elite whup-butt tear collectors. Makes them look more like sheep and sycophants. Not the right message to send.

Just pointing out a few compromising items coming out of this security leak. Candidates, I'd advise not letting this happen to you.

*Pork barrel politics (American English) - When an elected official improperly uses his influence to provide special benefits to his own supporters. Rather than using it for what he was elected to do. In the case of CSM officers, I believe their role is to improve the game for all of the players in it.

I literally amazes me how much dumb these threads attract.

Voting for someone in your corp/alliance/coalition is not vote rigging. If you honestly believe that voting for someone that moves in your social circle and has similar idea's, goals and interests is vote rigging, you need your head checked.

As the cfo of goonswarm, i have determined it is in the interests of the alliance to spend money improving the gameplay experience through electing the most competent CSM possible, and the most cost-effective way to do this is through ensuring that The Mittani remains head of the CSM.

to put 500m, "a pile of do-re-mi" to this poverty-stricken nobody in perspective, it is approximately 30 minutes worth of technetium income for goonswarm.
