All inties have short lock range...and I agree, that's a bit odd as well. The vindi though, doesn't have a short lock range because it doesn't need the extra...they've done the same thing as with the hyperion and given it a short lock range in an attempt to force people to use blasters. Part of their attempt at splitting hybrids into two separate racial weapon systems. (again, please stop that, thanks)

Stetson makes a good point, the vindi is nearly useless in missions that have damps.
