What do I need to learn to warp closer to gates?

this is killing me I constantly see people warping to gates near or within jump range while I'm 14K our and gank bait. any advice?

It's called "Warp to 0", and it lands you right on top of any gate.

Also, if you select "jump" you don't have to anything you'll just "warp to 0" and jump through. Just one less button to push when traveling through multiple gates.

This is true though sometimes you will miss out on a opportunity to loot a blue wreck, salvage, or pick up abandoned drones at the gate if you jump immediately. I usually warp to 0, scan overview, then jump - the other day I netted 60M salvaging a T3 wreck just sitting at a gate.

One thing to bear in mind with the "Jump" option to a gate or station is that it can sometimes mess up if you are cloaked. You will get a message along the lines of "Your cloaking device is preventing you from Jumping/Docking".

You just have to attempt the Jump/Dock again or very occasionally, de-cloak and do it.

It also doesn't work right if you don't have enough cap to warp the whole way. You can't just hit jump again after you stop warping.
