Now I love alting, and want to try and invstigate as much of EVE's diverse gameplay as I can.

Now the best way to do this IMO is to have a few alts training in paralel. All well and good but WHAT to train is the question I'm finding it hard to get my head round.

So if you don't mind me asking .

If you are a specialist in any area of the game.

What is your specialist area ?

And which skills are important for your job ?

Method I like is to raise alts to assist the main. Areas tjhe main is weak on or you you don't wnat to buff and polish them in those areas is what the alt is for.

PVE can be your basic noctis alt. Or the fleet booster (either the alt is the fleet booster or is a warm body to run to fleet if the main has leaderships skills). Maybe an indy type char or pi or trading for passive isk. Or side by side alting. Stuff I have done in the past included odd crap like this char in rattler, another char in a stealth bomber. Bomber killed the BS' , rattler drone deathed th rest (and was meat shield to get room aggro).

Do you have pvp aspirations and how grand are they? Common alts here are a mix of cyno, scout, and say tackle. If caps in the future a string of cyno alts a nice to get done at some point. Going black ops on main may as well have a covert cyno alt or 2 as well. And there is always falcon alt lol. OR fleet booster again.

Well I asked on another forum I belong to about it and they said 'complimentary' , I'd agree but I'll quote you my reply

Quote:
I have a mining alt and a missioning alt, an inactive scanning alt.

Things I might be interested in are

Industry and Research alt

Small gang PvP alt (low sec)

Incusion alt

Worm hole alt

Large scale PVP alt (null sec)

obviously from what your saying is the PvP catagories should be split down further into seperate functions.

Out of all those mentioned, only separating the industry alt makes sense - all the others basically share the same basic support, combat and spaceship command skills with some minor differences in desired spaceship command and ewar skills.

It's up to you if roughly a year of training to get semi-decent support for each of those alts is worth it to you - I'd say no.

The following specialized alts make sense imho:

- PI
- Trade
- Research
- Industry
- Hauling
- Supercap (holder)
- Probing
- Fleet Boosting
- Falcon (if you're lame)

Cyno alts also make sense, but I just train cynosural field theory on any alt I have.

Of yourse there may be need for some alts like a lowsec -10 pirate alt only used for that purpose, but then, that has nothing to do with the skillset thta's needed and is solely related to game mechanics.
