I only have limited knowledge of these but wasnt the drawback if you died in one you would lose subsystem skills? Is that still the case or did that change at some point?

thanks

I haven't seen anything saying that they changed it. IIRC you lose one level in a random subsystem skill if that race (eg, Caldari subsystems if you die in a Tengu) if the ship pops while you're in it. No loss if you eject before it pops (though lots of risk of handing them a T3 to help pod you, lol). However, SS skills are only tier 1, so it's a max of 5-6d of training lost in the worst case, which isn't horrible.

Its still the case,

if you die you lose 1 level on a random subsystem which is related to the ship you are flying

e.g. I died in a tengu and lost prop 4 which is now at level 3

Ok thanks because I thought previously in the ship description it would say this but I dont believe it does anymore unless im mistaken.

You are mistaken, you still loose one lvl in random subsystem. There's no reason to change it and it's not a pain to do it anyway (4days)

I think he means unless he was mistaken about the description of the ships changing to not include the skill loss eventuality.

IIRC you do get a pop-up warning when you board them.

But T3s are so survivable that it's a worthwhile risk. I'd advise training the subsustem skills to 5 anyway.

Unless you're Mfume, in which case you always lose Offensive on your Loki because that's the one that pisses you off the most.

Ahhh, I'm glad someone pointed this fact out. The actual subsytem skill loss is not random at all. CCP has a maxi-PITA detector algorithm that observes your style of play and pulls lvl5 of the most painful one. Thankfully it's less than a week to recoup.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Yes. Some people just eject before they die to mitigate the sp loss.

True, although I bolded the important bits, I think you'll find there is definitely some correlation there...

A link loki should be offgrid, hence not needing a prop mod

Raah that sucks and pisses me off too because I always loose that one with Proteus...strangely with Tengu I lost very often the propulsion one but never the offensive one. Loki can't say it, didn't died in it yet and no you can't help me for that Lol
