Missile skills

For reference, I'm not familiar as far as using missiles goes besides theorycrafting and damage mitigation once on the receiving end.

Noticed missiles are split between guided and unguided variant.

What I do not understand is why aren't there 2 separate skill "lines", as in rockets-->hams-->torpedoes and standard--->hml--->cruise.

Any thoughts on this ?

Why are there 4 types of guns?

They do different things.

For one, why should there be? That split would basically mirror a separate skill tree for pulses/ACs/blasters and one for beams/arties/rails.

Another argument would be that we want to keep access to torpedoes (formerly cruise missiles) for stealth bomber pilots without making them climb the entire skill tree.
