New Noob Ships - care to rate them?

Post updated with new textures. Looks good from an ongoing art direction and quality point of view, maybe not so good from a design preference point of view.

1 Ibis - Excellent (mini Tengu).
2 Impairor - Polished version of current great design.
3 Velator - jury is out, I'm liking the new design elements along the same lines as the Talos, people in the thread not too happy with it.
4 Reaper - general improvement in quality but has lost something on the way. Something symmetrical based on the new design works much better for me.
Symmetrical Reaper for fun

I know that without textures there's imagination required but at least the models are clear.

I'll give 'em:

1 Impairor 9/10 - has the cool factor
2 Ibis 8/10 - looking like a mini tengu, nice
3 Velator 7/10 - classic
4 Reaper 0/10 - bonk

I hope this scaffolding mess isn't the sign of things to come, it certainly won't make a good first impression on players. Something like the merc ship from Chronicles of Riddick would be much more fitting.

Ho hum.

I don't like any of them.

They're far too good and smooth for noob ships.

The Velator doesn't look Gallentean, and the Ibis looks far too advanced.

Amarr one looks the same. I can see no diff at all.

Velator reminds me of the derelict ship in the first Alien movie - also in new Prometheus film.

Amarr one looks like a cleaned up version of current ship - not a bad thing.

Reaper reminds me of this...

The unfinished textures aside, I can't see any improvement - looks like change for changes sake...

As someone commented earlier on, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. As such, the noobships are more important than most people realize. An older player creating an alt will get out of the ship asap, but a brand new player will actually spend more time in it than most people think.

The Impairor is essentially unchanged. Some bits in the back are changed but its apperance is essentially the same. Which is OK, as the Imparor is the coolest looking noobship currently. 9/10.

The Ibis is cool. It has a mini-tengu/mini hookbill feel to it, looks modern. 10/10.

The Velator... meh. They have kept the old basic shape while upgrading some of it. I say throw it out and start from scratch, creating a brand new model. 3/10.

And finally, the Reaper. No, that will not do at all. They have just "solidified" the existing absolutely crappy model. Throw it out, try again. 0/10.

The new ibis looks like the flipper baby of the Tengu and Hookbill and that is pretty great but update the ships that matter first.

I don't always use hax. But when I do, it's because I'm an NPC.. http://i.imgur.com/PUZou.jpg

Noobships dont matter? To whom?

Ibis = 10 (Baby Tengu)\

Impairor = 8 (Looks sort of the same as the old one but the old one looks good)

Velator = 6 (Not bad, sleek but not great)

Reaper = 5 (Average)

I like them all though by comparison to the old ones. I am both happy and impressed.

Impairor: 9/10, gj on not ******* up the already decent-looking ship
Ibis: 3/10, looks like a mini Tengu, NOT nice. What, is it a Sleeper frigate? A T3 noobship? Not at all like the Caldari T1 line up, even disregarding the uglies like the Moa.
Velator: 2/10, just lol and not very Gallente-like, a bigger fail than the Ibis
Reaper: 3/10, doesn't look very Minmatar, way too rounded and pretty fug

Noob ship artists, plz to be looking at the game a little and working noobships into each race's T1 line up, excluding all the fug ships from consideration. The color is not the only thing that matters. Also, no one gives a crap about noobships, fix real ships first before wasting time on ships that don't matter all that much. New players don't spend all that long in noobships, I promise.

Pretty much everyone who isn't a new player? And even then, they get their first frigate free of charge after doing a couple basic tutorial missions.

If they are going to put resources into remodeling and retexturing ships, it would be better spent on ships that see the most use. They did a fantastic job on the Scorpion, Raven and Maller.

I distinctly remember keeping my Ibis around for months actually.

Nice remodelling, but too bad that in a few days the rookies will have to go to the ugly line of the T1 frigates. They will be disappointed.

The Impairer and Ibis look really fantastic. The Reaper looks ok but the Velator looks terrible. I would love to see some iteration on those two. I'd love to see textures even more though.

And for whom do you think they do these models? For the vet that creates an alt?

So did I. But I still kept my Ibis around for quite some time after I started the game.

I got my first Atron within the first few hours of playing from my tutorial agent. Never touched my Velator again.

The old velator looked ok, I don't really see the point in this.

This character, Lyris Nairn, was originally going to be a Minmatar. I took one look at the newbie ship that I was given, and deleted the character to try out a different race. I settled happily on the Ibis. First impressions matter a lot.
