They not shooting them off into space on rockets (what I would have done) but they sending copies into space and then turning the public loose on them after they come back.

In theory I believe the smog over LA wouldn't let the balloon go anywhere. It would just sit there until a breeze came through and moved it into the freeway where an epic 20 car pileup would happen

No wonder my overnight deliveries always take 2 weeks to show up. What ever happened to the shortest distance between 2 points theory?

If you check the Jet stream forecasts most of the launch locations are right under it, those copies could end up almost anywhere.
