Elect Blackberry Bold: Direct Democracy

My Proposal: As a member of the CSM it will be my primary goal to replace the current antiquated representational CSM with a more modern direct Democratic one.

This system would allow members to more directly communicate with the developers (The reason the council was created). This system would be remarkably easy to implement for the company and I will illustrate how it would work with the VERY limited tools available to my candidacy.

Current Proposal: Please give a “like” for your choice

Link 1: Eliminate area effect weapons in high and low security space, i.e. smart bombs, as is already the case with regular bombs or...... (Link to choice 2)

Link 2: Keep current system of area effect weapons in high and low security space or.... (Link to choice 1)

For implementing this system we could use these current threads, as I plan to do when elected, or, preferably, have a way of voting in game . Now their are flaws to this system but non that couldn’t be readily addressed with a little bit of programing (And until it was implimented I have ad hoc solutions for my own term in office).

By using this more modern method we would be able to exploit the advantages of group input far more readily then the current antiquated one. Until this system was put into place my seat on the CSM would give those who desire this more modern form of governance an opportunity to actually have such a system while either A) CCP works on implementing a better version or B) Give those wanting the more modern system an opportunity to use direct Democracy (Albeit on a smaller scale.) while slowly convincing others of the drawbacks of the old one. After all, when was the last time a CSM "representative" asked for your input?

So to sum things up: A thumbs up for this thread is literally a vote for direct Democracy. Thank you for your time and I hope I can count on your support .

Android crew checking in. So a main leg of your platform is to be for a fix (the insurance nerf) that has already been implemented. Great, visionary if you will. On the wormhole side, what differentiates you from Two Step? There must be something, because without it there hardly seem to be reason for the WH crowd to rally behind you instead?

As a new miner I support this vague and baseless platform and will give you my vote as I feel you're addressing my interests specifically, perhaps even at the expense of other more pressing issues and without regard to game mechanics.

Our goals on the council will certainly change as situations arise but the current two priorities are to insure that Worm Hole space is not "rebalanced" in order to make more people go to null sec and reduce the number of high sec NEW miner gankings (When uninformed new members rage quit we all lose.). The removal of insurance pay outs for high sec killings was long over due and many of us who discussed this issue with other players and contacted CCP about it were certainly please when this "moral hazard" (To use an insurance industry term.) was taken care of.

Thank you for your support.

Why should wormhole residents vote for you instead of me? Do you really think there are enough wormhole votes to split those votes and still be able to elect a single representative to the CSM?

That's possibly the whiniest, weakest, most pathetic political reply I have ever seen. You are AHARM for goodness sake not "If you play in my playground I'm going to sit here and sulk" Goons. Pathetic but now for the OP ...........

You imply then that anyone who plays this game as a w-space 'resident' should vote tactically for you regardless of your opinions.

When voting becomes tactical it becomes corrupt and pointless in my opinion. I would like to vote for you since you seem like you are a decent candidate and have done a good job so far, and agree with most of your opinions. However I am severely adverse to doing anything because I'm told there is no alternative. Putting my vote on hold for now so +1 like for black berry to see what he can present.

Also, this categorisation of 'nullsec dewller' 'highsec dweler' and 'w-space dweller' is horrible. There are many many of us that consider ourselves all three, and by splitting the vote you turn them off.

Actually, considering the degree to which votes are going to be split, Two step has a very valid point and it's an entirely reasonable question to ask. But don't let that stop you from publicly demonstrating your political acumen, such as it is.

Now excuse me, I have some sitting and sulking to do.

I'm sorry you see my reply that way. I think it is a totally reasonable question to ask anyone who is competing for what is a small fraction of EVE's population. Given that last year I was the only wormhole candidate running and I was just barely elected to an alternate seat (100 votes fewer would have lost me the election), asking someone to directly compare themselves to me seems reasonable.

That isn't what I said at all. W-space residents should tactically vote for the w-space candidate that is most likely to win, since I don't think we have enough votes to elect more than one representative. It is up to everyone to decide who that one candidate is. I feel that I have the best chance to win, but given that there are already several other wormhole candidates, votes might be split enough that I won't get enough votes to get a seat.

Nowhere did I tell you there is no alternative to voting for me. I think it is critical to have a wormhole representative on the CSM. If this guy who named himself after a cellphone is the best chance, then vote for him.

Congratulations you just managed to choose to politically represent the EvE equivalent of Israel and Palestine. One doesn't like, doesn't represent and has nothing at all to do with the other in any way shape or form.

Blackberry Bold wrote:

Last time I checked AHARM had a representative, in fact he is the whiny post above my first. As far as high sec mining goes it's all about experience. You have any? You lost a Retriever in Friggi once but then it looks like you converted to losing your industrials in WH's. More curious none of them are the same WH so I don't see any experience living in either situation.

Thank you for your support.

You meant ensure right, please tell me ensure, you're not really going to bring insurance to your local WH POCO are you? New miner ganks are unavoidable, a necessity to enhance what is the EvE learning curve and totally impossible to monitor save 2 options a) Make a mining barge owned by a player under 9 months old completely invulnerable or b) Make it an RL punishable offence to shoot any miner in a mining ship or industrial. Which is your play?
Sorry were you involved in the removal of that "moral hazzard" (thanks for pointing out the industry insider term for us plebs. The masses truly love a pious politician) because, if you were, then link that stuff. We want to see you for who you are! Post your countless threads started by you, give us examples of your courage in the face off CCP adversity. Oh wait, I just searched your name, there are two. One about you having a WH wet dream Shocked in Sell Orders And one about you listing low sec pirate gate camps and having others report them to you with the promise of hot drops (Neither of which are appealing to the demographics you say you are going to stand for). Link << Where you also list your "Combat main" Dabasir.
Let's draw a conclusion just from this thread alone. You publicly advertised a Low Sec Gate Camp service to low sec pirates to the entire eve community so whatever you drop on them can be overwhelmed by them, their friends, anyone wanting to have a big fight, large alliances and anyone else wanting to whore on you, your corp and your alliance's deaths and you want us to vote for you???
Be a good lad and move along son. Leave the politics to the ones who think they are grown ups.

Wouldn't it be more constructive to showcase the reason why we should vote for you in stead of him. While I can see your point I'd much rather vote for a candidate that shows he is superior in substance and ideas then claim the other guy is inferior voter base excludes him from running on a platform that is similar to your own.

Welcome to the political process BB.

The bickering in the last few posts notwithstanding, I think you've just received a taste of what can be expected. Every word of each post will be examined and torn down to the raw game mechanics change you are proposing. Nice shark tank to jump in to eh?

Dammit forums swallowed my reply. At this rate I'm gonna sell my vote to D3 again for a plex and be done with it.

What I was trying to say is that I strongly believe you should not run on this basis. A lot of people who would vote for you because you seem like a stand up guy, whose opinions are not too crazy, has on obvious interest in safeguarding w-space game-play and have a good track record will be put off by this stance and vote for Trebor or someone else who speaks for all players and not a specific part of the player base.

Whilst I do not underestimate the importance of the last CSM in changing CCP's view of their player-base, please don’t lose sight of the fact that the majority people playing eve don’t give two ***** about politics (in particular many w-space pilots who are nullsec bittervets who moved to w-space for a politics free game in the first place).

Sorry if my reply seemed like an attack, I’m actually trying to help. I really think if you run on the basis that if people don’t vote for a single candidate it will massively lower the overall number of people who call themselves w-space dwellers voting in the first place. Plus, if you run soley on the basis of being ‘THE’ w-space representative you will miss out on all the potential votes from other parts of the player base who are really enjoying things like corp bookmarks. But then what do I know I’m not a political adviser, just a voter.

/incoherent rant over

And for the record I’d only vote for blackberry if he signed a contract stating he would never fit a WCS to a ship again :p

I'm not running on just being the wormhole candidate, but I do hope to have the support of as many wormhole residents as possible. In addition to that, I think my record shows that I am in favor of improvements that cut across many different areas of EVE (pretty much everyone uses POSes or Corp Bookmarks, for example).

That's called a primary election or a ballot petition. Either way it is the beginning of your campaign. And I personally will sooner vote for Two step than you. In neither your opening post or subsequent, so far non-existent, replies you have failed to tell anyone what you plan to do, what would makes you more appealing, and why you should be preferable.

Back out now while you have shreds of dignity left rather than nothing left at all. You have tried to tie two very separate and different groups and play styles together but have given no reasons why you are their candidate. Give me a reason why I should tell all my newbie high sec miner friends and all my l33t WH friends that you are their candidate and not Two step or Xenuria or Meissa Anunthiel or The Mittani or Kelduum Revaan or any one of the much more highly qualified peoples running...

Your post is childish and petulant, basically telling us that we should vote for you because it is you. From that perspective there is nothing redeeming. We don’t know who you are, what you do, or where you are in game. Do you really represent hi sec or wormholes? It can't be both. What part of your platform is one that I should be interested in? Actually for that matter, what is your platform? Make me want to vote for you!

If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t be here.
