In a genre where most games die in a fire and the ashes are gone in 18 months, CCP has weathered 100 months.

Yes, they have something to be proud of, it's called success. Gratz CCP.

Plex have been a great investment for quite awhile, they just keep going up, and likely will continue to do so until at least fanfest.

One thing I've noticed in all the F2Ps I've played that have a tradable item or currency that must be purchased with real money is that the buyers outnumber the sellers to such a degree the market price of the item is determined entirely by the top-end free players.

With PLEX it seems to be something similar - there's a huge number of people who want to play free, but the only people I know who regularly buy PLEX for money and sell them for ISK are hardcore pvpers who don't want to bother with carebearing. Sure, there's exceptions but those exceptions seem to be one-offs and not regular purchases.

50 trillion ISK of PLEX equates to about 100,000 individual PLEX's. So CCP's making about $2 million a month on PLEX alone? Seems good.

The amount of stupid in this thread is giving me a headache and I don't say that a lot.

Yeah true, which is why CCP is advertising this. They are trying to break that model of more buyers of plex then sellers. Or at least make it more "fair".

Also wondering if CCP would like to use PLEX as the main activity indicator as well. I pay with subscriptions, which is hard to measure my activity. I was gonna buy plex and be more active but its pretty hard to, and money is limited.

A activity indicator based on money would be hard to establish, based on how people feel about money. But CCP has stated they liked the PLEX idea and wanted it to be lower and more fair. If plex is based on money and they try to raise and lower it kind of like currency manipulation. Which is how I kind of feel, PLEX seems hard to manipulate but CCP be trying to.

Alot of places are trying to save their currency lately, suppose CCP can try to as well.

Must be why the phd in economics gave up ... last seen running into the wilds of Iceland with shrill screams...pulling out his hair.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

So because they've laid off 20% of their staff a few months ago,
people aren't getting paid at all ?

Now that makes sense ...................................

With the fun number of $1.5-$2 million made a month. It does kind of show they can pay the employees they have. Which is why its fun to do these math problems and such.

But with the 20% layoff, as well as the plex model hard to break but them trying, as well them depending on technelogical gains. Some people might not be earning, or it will be hard for eveyone to get paid.

Just trying to keep the cheer level down, but not saying anything is dieing.

Erm. You lack the following:
-Mathematical skills
-Reading comprehension skills
-Logical skills
-Good posting skills

Please train each of these prerequisites to at least level IV before attempting to use the forums again.
Thank you.

lol! If CCP takes in 50 billion a month from PLEX I'm all for it because the next expansion would f****** ROCK! Big smile
(Not to mention the fact that CCP would single handedly dwarf Iceland's collective GDP by 4,766%ish)

...but that thing about his math is true. 4 serial yo. They are making around 3-3.7 mil/mo on PLEX on the outside (representing the upper limit), assuming one PLEX is not traded twice. More likely PLEX are being traded multiple times as speculators play and that inflates the figures in ISK terms, so really there's no telling with the info I have how little money CCP might be making in the PLEX trade. Other factors like how many PLEX from previous months are being traded back and forth, how often PLEX are removed from the game (through AUR or subs), and how many are in the shadow inventory might put downward pressure on the whole equation in terms of CCP's take.

ps. in Finland it's not as bad as in USA. At least that is what I've heard from those who visited USA - McDonalds burgers are not edible there. Ugh

They are not edible for you in america. The european physiology is drastically different and cannot handle the american style burgers. Its alright though, you can still use the playground McDonalds provides for people with your physiology.

They're the same. Or at least they are in Denmark and the Netherlands. Still more of a food-like substance than a burger Smile.
