You don't understand the concept of owning space, do you?

No I'm a communist :)

Pretty sure they understand the concept of "owning space" and protecting their borders, as they own (approx) 10.2 million sq km of this planet.*

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Oh yeah, I'm so totally wrong on this, I bow before your greatness and wisdom.

Well, as long as you understand how awesome we are I suppose I'll let you off just this once.

In case you couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic, the first two posts made in this thread were exactly about that, not only that 0.0 players repeatedly post in my threads complaining about how my ideas would make it much more difficult to defend territory and that's the point.

Actually, deep safes having little to do with that, I'm guessing you just don't know what they are or why they are bad because you haven't been playing very long. Hint: CCP have gone very far out of their way to discourage any mechanic that could allow for deep safes to be easily made.

It's amazing that you actually think I need advice when I know EVE Online is just a giant game of rock/paper/scissors like most RPGs are because they were lightly based off ancient D&D rules which were meant for co-op gaming and not PvP. However I'm sure being so ancient and knowledgeable you'd already know this so I shouldn't need to lecture you on how games like this work.

Of course I already know that, everyone knows that. Except for the fact that Eve isn't that simple, and "free warping" has little to do with rock/paper/scissors style counter-mechanics anyway.

The fact that you think understanding the basic concept of counters in D&D style games is somehow tantamount to having mastered Eve is almost as bad as your mad shuttle gatecamp dodging skills.

This game will not be fixed by by half-assed nerfs, particularly ones that are designed to make it easier for you to defend what you have and deny entire regions of the game to high sec or newbies.

This game will not be fixed by your terrible, terrible ideas.

you *have* to send a known endpoint for the warp ... because, well, you don't want to end up in a star or something.

Yea, while I would like to see some type of free warp system, I leaning more toward Velicitia on thisone. All the scifi movies/shows that I have seen, they always have a destination in place. I mean, I've never seen Jean Luc Picard just say "Yea, just warp straight ahead at warp 6, whatever we find, we find". No hes more like:

"Ensign, set course for Starbase 12, Baxter system, Warp 5".

Edit: For got the most important part:

So why not let ships who chose to go free flight get blown up by stars and planets? Or are you against that to? You seem to hate any idea that puts your sovereignty at risk and that's the whole point of a lot of my ideas, the problem is you consider the rest of the player base automatic 'bad guys' so in turn they're going to consider you a bunch of assholes, particularly if you gank them on sight regardless of whether they're in a combat ship or a mining barge.

Hate to burst your bubble but almost everytime I warp its usually through a planet so your argument is flawed.

Exactly; Its these kinds of stupid suggestions, to try to get ccp to give certain people GOD mode, that clutter up the ideas forum. PLEASE ccp, dont waste your time any further on this suggestion.

HOWEVER< this is a good idea WITH MODIFICATIONS. Why not allow us to warp in any direction, like throwing a baseball, but have the usual warp limitations. Bubbles stop you, you have teh same warp startup process (prewarp) with or without intertia bonuses and etc.

Like if i wanted to guess that a target was in a certain direction, i could try my best to AIM in that direction, align the ship in the direction first using double click on mouse, then press s key to warp, then a dialogue box appears asking warp distance.

IF I WAS SKILLED ENOUGH AT AIMING at a narrrow range and guessing the warp distance, and ONLY if these two requirements are met, I could pass bubbles when warping into a gate. Otherwise, bubbles stop you if they're on the grid and intercept your line of travel

So, keep the warp system, bubbles, and stargates exactly where they are, allowing us to warp using overview to static points but add a new warp feature to warp in a direction chosen by user.
